The Whiteman AFB Fire Dawgs had a chance to spend sometime out in our K**b Noster community. Spending time with our brothers and sisters in our mutual aid communities builds our partnerships. As you can see, they weren’t the only ones having fun! Well done Fire Dawgs!

UNIFORM UPDATE | In June 1970, distinctive badges were authorized for fire protection personnel. The circular shield insignia read “Fire Protection USAF” topped by an eagle with outspread wings. The center of the badge contained an emblem that denoted levels of duty.

Keeping in line with the history and heritage of Fire & Emergency Services, we are returning to our distinctive fire protection shield on the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP), Two-Piece Flight Duty Uniform (A2CU), and Hot Weather Combat Uniform (HWCU).

A burn ban has been issued within the City Limits of K**b Noster until further notice.
The wind is not our friend, and the National Weather Service still has Johnson County, Missouri and the surrounding areas in a severe drought situation.

Due to weather conditions and low humidity, there will be no open burning allowed. This includes burn pits and trash fires.

Please use caution discarding smoking materials.

Just a reminder that NO FIREWORKS ARE ALLOWED WITHIN THE City Limits of K**b Noster.

The main reason KNFD issued the burn ban is because the forecast is for High Winds and less than low humidity with no rainfall forecasted in the immediate future.

DO call the K**b Noster Fire Department if you need our assistance. KNFD is here to serve you. Dial 911 for Emergencies only. Other questions can be directed to the Dispatch Number above.

KNFD will update the public when weather conditions change.

Questions can be addressed by calling the Administrative Offices of the City of K**b Noster at 660-563-2595, MON-FRIDAY 8AM TO 5PM.

Johnson County Dispatch 660-747-2265.

Thank you!!

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week, the Air Force Fire & Emergency Services are teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) during the week of 9-15 Oct. This year's theme is "Fire Won't Wait, Plan Your Escape” which aims to educate everyone about the simple but important actions you can take to stay safe from fire in your home and in your work center.

Throughout the week, United States Air Force fire departments will be out and about in your offices, exchanges, commissaries, schools, and youth centers educating our Air Force families on what simple steps they can take to escape a fire safely.

In support of this year's efforts, consider the following tips:

- Make sure your plan meets the needs of all your family members, including those with sensory or physical disabilities.
- Home smoke alarms should be installed inside every sleeping room, outside sleeping areas, and on every level. They should also be interconnected where possible so when one sounds, they all sound.
- Know at least two ways out of every room, if possible. Make sure all doors and windows open easily.
- Have an outside meeting place a safe distance away where everyone knows to meet after escaping.
- Practice your home fire drill at least twice a year with everyone in the household.

The most difficult conversation is one had during the most difficult times, and feeling like you are alone with no one to talk to is terrifying. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), su***de is a leading cause of death in the United States. The US military is no exception, and is at even greater risk of su***de when compared to those who haven't served.

The DoD Fire Academy at Goodfellow AFB, with support from the Air Force Civil Engineer community, led the creation of the Su***de Awareness patch, which represents strength and support in numbers. The patch also symbolizes the willingness to be an approachable and caring listener.

Life is the #1 priority for all Fire Service professionals, so the patch takes the shape of a Maltese Cross and uses additional symbols convey important themes. The semicolon signifies the importance of your story and that your story isn't finished yet. The heartbeat symbolizes the importance of life - your life.

However, the most important part of the Su***de Awareness Patch is the key phrase, "No One Fights Alone," which highlights the importance of solidarity. Whenever you find yourself in that dark place, reach out as others have once been there. We wear this patch together to symbolize our internal efforts to strengthen communication and awareness, as well as to grow with each other so that no one has to endure anything alone.

Patch: Replaces squadron patch under American Flag on right arm
Wear Dates: 04-10 Sept during Su***de Prevention Week

The K**b Noster Fire Department will be conducting annual hose testing on Hwy J (immediately outside Arnold Gate). This will shut down the entire roadway and prevent any inbound/outbound traffic at Arnold Gate.

This testing will occur from 0600-1800 on Saturday, 10 September, all inbound/outbound traffic MUST use Spirit Gate on September 10th and should plan accordingly due to the increased amount of traffic.

J Road (South State Street) will be closed in the 1600 Block at the South entrance of Lakewood Mobile Home Park. This will affect your access to North Port Storage.

I apologize in advance for any inconvenience, but this test is necessary to keep the Cities ISO rating at a 5 which in the long term helps to keep your homeowner's insurance rates lower.
