On June 2, 2026 our Police Recruits- J. Bechtol, R. Clawson & A. Alderette placed some flowers on the BIA Indian Country Fallen Officer memorial in honor of our Fallen Police Officer Adrian Lopez P219.

This memorial site is located at the Indian Police Academy in Artesia, NM.

Today we remember our Fallen Brother, Officer Adrian Lopez P219- End of Watch 06/02/2022.

Our Police Officers honored him with a run to the memorial site. The flag was replaced with a new one.

We thank the WMAT Game Rangers for blocking off the road while our officers & staff gathered to honor the life of Police Officer Adrian Lopez on this day.

Today, May 22, 2026, WMAT PD and WMAT DOT came together for a seat belt checkpoint to keep our community safe on the road! Officers checked seat belts while WMAT DOT's Child Passenger Safety Program was on-site providing FREE car seats to families in need.

This morning our officers honored our Fallen Police Officers- Officer Tenny Gatewood, Officer David Kellywood, & Officer Adrian Lopez with the 21 gun salute here at the Police Department.

Our agency would like to thank everyone, including departments, who donated various items for our 2026 National Police Week.

And to those who provided a meal to our officers, your love & appreciation for our Law Enforcement Officers does not go unnoticed.

To our own administrative staff members and Dispatchers we commend you for the hard work you put in to make this week a success for the Police Officers.
