Today, the Town of Whitestown Police Department proudly recognizes the retirement of Lieutenant Timothy Barone after nearly 30 years of dedicated service to law enforcement.

Lieutenant Barone began a law enforcement career in June 1998 as a certified police officer in New Hampshire, serving until 2004. In 2005, he continued his career in New York as a part-time officer with the Village of Dolgeville Police Department while attending the SUNY Oneonta Part-Time Police Academy to become a certified New York State police officer.

In August 2006, Lieutenant Barone joined the Town of Whitestown Police Department as a part-time officer before becoming a full-time officer in October 2006. During his career, he earned specialized certifications, including Child Passenger Safety Technician, Drug Recognition Expert, general topics instructor, and SFST instructor.

In 2016, Lieutenant Barone was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, completed Police Supervisor School, and later was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, where he held this position until his retirement on July 9th, 2026.

Lieutenant Barone's commitment to this department and the Whitestown community has left a lasting impact on both the organization and those he served.

🚨 **FRAUD ALERT – Protect Your Personal Information** 🚨

The Town of Whitestown Police Department would like to make residents aware of a phone and online scam that has recently been reported in our area.

Scammers are contacting individuals through text messages, emails, or social media claiming that a bank account, online account, or personal information has been compromised. These messages often encourage the recipient to click on a link or call a phone number.

Shortly afterward, the victim may receive a phone call from someone claiming to represent their bank, a financial institution, or another trusted organization. The caller may already know personal information such as your name, address, date of birth, or email address to make the call seem legitimate.

The scammer will then attempt to convince you to:
• Provide sensitive information such as your Social Security number, account numbers, passwords, or security codes.
• Transfer money to another account for "safekeeping."
• Approve transactions or grant remote access to your device.

**Remember:**
❌️ Never provide personal or financial information to anyone who contacts you unexpectedly.
❌️ Do not click links in unsolicited text messages or emails.
✅ If you believe your bank account has been compromised, hang up and contact your bank directly using the phone number on the back of your debit or credit card or from the bank's official website.
✅ If something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts and verify the information independently.

The Town of Whitestown Police Department would like to remind our residents about the laws regarding e-bikes and e-scooters. Now that school is out and summer is here, we want to ensure everyone stays safe while enjoying the warmer weather.

Currently, the Town of Whitestown does not have any local laws permitting the operation of e-bikes or e-scooters on sidewalks. Therefore, e-bikes and e-scooters may not be operated on sidewalks and are also prohibited from being operated on roadways with a posted speed limit greater than 30 MPH.

Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about the safe and lawful operation of these devices before they ride.

Today, the Town of Whitestown Police Department was proud to es**rt the Oriskany Skyhawks Baseball Team through the Village of Oriskany from the high school to the elementary school as students, staff, and community members gathered to show their support.

We would like to congratulate the Skyhawks on an outstanding season and wish them the very best of luck as they travel to the New York State semi-finals tomorrow.

🚧 Traffic Advisory – Clinton Street Paving Project 🚧

The Town of Whitestown Police Department would like to notify residents and travelers that Clinton Street between Wilcox Road and Curran Road will be paved on Thursday, June 4, 2026, between 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM.

During this time, Clinton Street will be reduced to one lane for the entire length of the construction zone between Wilcox Road and Curran Road. Motorists should expect significant traffic delays and slow-moving traffic throughout the day.

Drivers are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes whenever possible to avoid delays.

Please help keep our construction workers safe by reducing your speed, remaining alert, and following all posted signs, flaggers, and traffic control devices.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation while these improvements are completed.

🚛 **Town of Whitestown Annual Bulk Trash Pickup Reminder** 🚛

The Town of Whitestown Police Department would like to remind residents that the Town's annual bulk trash pickup is currently underway and is expected to continue through approximately June 10th.

During this time, you may notice increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout our neighborhoods as individuals search through discarded items for potential treasures.

We encourage residents to keep any items they wish to retain well away from the roadway and out of plain view. Items placed near the curb may reasonably be interpreted as intended for disposal and could be taken by others before trash collection occurs.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation and extend our sincere thanks to the Whitestown Highway Department for their hard work and dedication during this year's bulk pickup program.
