Poster, Essay, Poetry & Short Story Contest

📌 2026 Theme:
❤️ “Rooted in Love • Raised in the Mountains” ⛰️

It’s time to celebrate the people, places, traditions, stories, and memories that make Letcher County home—and this year, we’re adding something NEW for our fiction writers! 📚✨

🖼️ Poster Contest – Open to all students who reside in Letcher County.

✍️ Essay & Poetry Contest – Open to Letcher County residents of all ages.

📖 NEW! Short Story Contest – Calling all fiction writers! Let your imagination take you wherever it wants to go. Your story should be inspired by this year’s theme, “Rooted in Love • Raised in the Mountains,” but how you interpret it is completely up to you!

Get creative, dream up your characters, and tell us a story only you can tell! Short stories are limited to 5 pages and the contest is open to Letcher County residents of all ages.

📅 Deadline: All entries must be submitted by 12:00 PM (Noon) on Saturday, September 20, 2026.
