This family-friendly community event helps raise funds to support law enforcement families facing financial hardship after traumatic life events.

🚓🎓 That’s a wrap on our 2026 Citizen Academy! 🎓🚓

From April 9th through May 21st, we had the privilege of spending several weeks with an incredible group of community members who chose to take a deeper dive into what we do here at WMPD.

Throughout the academy, participants got hands-on exposure to a variety of topics—everything from patrol operations and investigations to traffic enforcement, use of force, and more. But what truly made this class special wasn’t just the material… it was the people.

Our 2026 class showed up every single week ready to learn, bringing great energy, enthusiasm, and thoughtful questions that kept our officers on their toes (in the best way!). Your engagement made each session meaningful—not just for you, but for us as well.

We are incredibly grateful for the time you invested and the interest you showed in your police department. We hope you walk away with a better understanding of the work we do—and the people behind the badge.

🚨🚨TRAFFIC ALERT🚔🚔: Vehicle collision near 131 mile-marker on I-65 NB - 2️⃣ lanes of travel shut down 🚫🚫

WMPD is currently working a vehicle collision involving 2 semis and a fuel spillage on I-65 NB near the 131 mile-marker.

- Expect delays in travel northbound for the next 1-2 hours.
- Seek alternate routes to avoid the congestion if possible.
