Last night several were in attendance for our EMS week gathering where we honored the priceless employees of Whitesville Ambulance Service with food, ice cream and fellowship. During the gathering, station cat Axel Harrison, was honored and appointed to the position of Chief of Community Relations.

Special thanks to Joyce Morris of the Lady's Auxiliary for providing ice cream sundaes for the gathering!

This week, we proudly recognize and celebrate EMS Week — a time to honor the dedication, sacrifice, and professionalism of emergency medical providers everywhere.

At Whitesville Fire & Ambulance, our EMS personnel stand ready 24/7 to answer the call, whether it’s a medical emergency, motor vehicle accident, rescue situation, or public service need. From critical patient care to comforting families on their worst days, these providers serve our community with compassion, skill, and commitment.

In a rural community like ours, EMS is more than a job — it’s neighbors helping neighbors when they need it most. We are incredibly proud of the EMVOs, EMTs, AEMTS, Paramedics, and rapid response personnel who continue to serve our community with dedication and heart.

Please join us in thanking all EMS professionals this week for the countless hours, sacrifices, and care they provide every single day.

Happy EMS Week from Whitesville Fire & Ambulance! 🚑🔥

During last night’s weekly training, members conducted drafting operations along the creek bank in Colcord to strengthen their water supply capabilities. Evolutions like this provide valuable opportunities to identify and overcome challenges such as limited water access in rural environments. It was a productive evening of hands-on training and meaningful engagement with community members who joined us.

We had a great opportunity this morning to engage with our neighbors across the county. Operations Manager Lisa Lively and Paramedic Hannah Ranson visited Scott High School to connect with students who will soon be entering the workforce.

Opportunities like these—alongside our valued partners at Boone County Ambulance Authority and other county agencies—are incredibly important. They allow us to build relationships, share knowledge, and help guide the next generation of professionals in our community.

Come see us tomorrow! Let us wash the pollen, dirt, and grime off your ride and grab a hotdog for lunch while you wait!

Congratulations to Whitesville Fire's biggest supporter, Harrison Morris of Whitesville! Harrison was named a Knight of the Golden Horseshoe! Each year 200-225 students are chosen out of approximately 20,000 8th grade students. Typically only 2 students from each county are chosen based off of their knowledge of West Virginia studies. We have all witnessed Harrison's hard work and dedication that allowed him this great achievement. Way to go buddy, all your big brothers and sisters across the street are so proud of you!
