“Parts of this City"

There are parts of this City
That keep haunting me
My mind can not erase
Some of the things I see

In front of that house there on the right
There was a child drawing with chalk
When a stray bullet from a drive by
Made it so she can no longer walk

Down that street I answered a call
Where a man kept beating his wife
She kept taking him back
Until he ultimately took her life

That charred house there on Main
There lived a family of five
The day it burned down
I carried two bodies no longer alive

Regardless of whether you appreciate
Or decide to criticize me
I will always answer the call
To the things I can never unseen

Today at 12:54pm we got paged out for mutual aid to Sturgis for a grass fire. We joined Sturgis and Vale volunteer fire departments and were able to get it knocked down. Thankfully the neighbors pitched in and helped also.

At 3:50pm yesterday (Aug 16) we got paged out to St Onge for a grass fire. We partnered with these other departments …Belle Fourche, Spearfish, Deadwood, SD Wildland Fire and US Forest Service. Mutual aid is key when you live in a rural area!
