The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is a national contractor for the U.S. Department of Labor and the nation's leading non-profit service and advocacy organization for older adults and the community organizations that serve them. In that capacity, we operate 22 training programs across the country. Our Mission is to retrain our participants (anyone age 55 +), who meet the financial criteria, which is determined by Federal guidelines, to transition to gainful employment.
Our participants are placed into training classes to improve and/or learn skills for re-entry into the job market. We also place them onto nonprofit host sites for 15 hours per week, to do clerical work and other positions; all for the intent of learning real-life skills. We pay our participants a training stipend of $8.60 per hour, the current minimum wage. By doing so, our participants gain their confidence and the necessary tools to become productive, fully-trained assets to future employers. Of benefit to you is a great reduction in the cost of your overhead.
