McCreary County Receives $10,000 KACo Insurance Grant for Safety Improvements

WHITLEY CITY, KY — McCreary County officials proudly accepted a $10,000 Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo) Insurance Grant today to support local safety improvement initiatives designed to reduce risk, prevent accidents, and protect county resources.

The funding is part of KACo’s statewide Insurance Grant Program, which assists counties in investing in practical projects that improve workplace safety, reduce insurance claims, and protect taxpayer-funded facilities, equipment, and services.

County officials stated the grant funds will be used to strengthen safety measures and enhance county operations, helping provide a safer environment for employees and the public while reducing the potential for costly incidents and property damage.

“This grant allows McCreary County to take proactive steps to improve safety, reduce risk, and better protect both county employees and the citizens we serve,” Sheriff David Sampson said. “We appreciate KACo’s continued investment in Kentucky counties and their commitment to helping local governments operate more safely and efficiently.”

The KACo Insurance Grant Program supports projects and purchases intended to reduce injuries, property damage, cybersecurity threats, and other insurance-related risks. Since 2019, the program has invested nearly $1.4 million in more than 200 projects across Kentucky, helping counties proactively address safety concerns and protect public resources.

KACo Executive Director Jim Henderson has noted that the grant program helps counties invest in practical, preventative solutions that reduce insurance claims and long-term costs while improving overall county operations.

McCreary County officials expressed their gratitude to KACo for recognizing the county’s commitment to safety and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. The county looks forward to implementing the improvements made possible through this grant and continuing efforts to provide safe and effective services to the public.
