In EMS we are often the first steady hands a person sees on their absoulte worse day. You don’t just drive an ambulance or administer medicine. You bring calm to chaos and a ray of hope in the darkest moments.

This job demands a lot from you. It’s the missed family dinners, the sleepless nights, the long overtime shifts, and the heavy weight you carry long after your shift has ended. This job also demands a lot from your families and loved ones Because the service EMS provides requires shared sacrifice at home.

Whether a Paramedic, Advanced EMT or an EMT. They are of the front lines. They are what keeps McCreary County EMS running smoothly. Because of their dedication, our community remains safe.

This week is a time to remember that EMS is more than just a ride to the hospital. Behind every siren is a human being. Behind every medical response is a professional who had dedicated countless hours of training, sacrifice and continuous learning.

Words will never be enough to properly Thank You for the lives you touch and the courage you show everyday. We are incredibly proud to have such an exceptional team. Take pride in the work you do, not just this week, but every day.

“Improving Outcomes, Together”

April 12-18, 2026 is marked as National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.

McCreary County 911 is Blessed for the Dispatchers we have behind the mic, the calm voice in the phone. These are the people you call when you need help, the ones who is just a mic click away.

Not only this week, but every week, month, day and year we are thankful for these people who are the “Calm in the Chaos”.

The dedication our dispatchers show everyday is unmatched. They are the unseen first responders, the ones who work behind the scenes to make sure every call is answered and every radio traffic is heard.

They often walk callers through lifesaving measures such as CPR and first aid.

So this week, as well as every other week of the year. We are grateful to recognize our dispatchers as the best of the best.

Our crews and members of the fire department would like to advise everyone that the roads have multiple areas of black ice and are very slick. Please use caution if travel is absolutely necessary. Stay warm and stay safe!
