About WETA

The Whittier Elementary Teachers' Association is an association of teachers in the Whittier City School District in Whittier, California. The primary purposes of this Association is to:

1.represent its members in their relations with their employer;
2.advance the general welfare of the schools;
3.provide an opportunity for continuous study and actions on the problems of the profes

sion;
4.raise the standards of the teaching profession;
5.promote professional attitudes and ethic conduct among members;
6.encourage the cooperation and communication between the profession and the community;
7.foster good fellowship among members; and
8.form and provide a representative body capable of developing group opinion on professional matters to speak with authority for teachers. The Whittier Elementary Teachers' Association is a chartered chapter of the California Teachers' Association and is an affiliated local association of the National Teachers' Association.

98.9% APPROVAL! 🎉

WETA members have officially ratified the 2026–27 Tentative Agreement.

Thank you to everyone who made their voice heard throughout this process. This outcome reflects the strength of our membership and what we can accomplish when we stand together.

The ratified Tentative Agreement will now move forward to the Board for approval at the June 9 Board Meeting.

The WETA Bargaining Team is proud to share more details about the Tentative Agreements reached for the 2026–27 school year. It includes a 3.5% on-schedule salary increase, class size improvements, and strengthened contract language designed to support educators and students.

For the first time, WETA and the District have reached a Tentative Agreement ahead of the upcoming school year! 🎉🎉🎉

Members should check their personal email for the ratification vote link, General Meeting slides, and full tentative agreement information.

⏰ Voting closes Wednesday, June 3 at 8:00 AM.
