About WETA

The Whittier Elementary Teachers' Association is an association of teachers in the Whittier City School District in Whittier, California. The primary purposes of this Association is to:

1.represent its members in their relations with their employer;
2.advance the general welfare of the schools;
3.provide an opportunity for continuous study and actions on the problems of the profession;
4.raise the standards of the teaching profession;
5.promote professional attitudes and ethic conduct among members;
6.encourage the cooperation and communication between the profession and the community;
7.foster good fellowship among members; and
8.form and provide a representative body capable of developing group opinion on professional matters to speak with authority for teachers. The Whittier Elementary Teachers' Association is a chartered chapter of the California Teachers' Association and is an affiliated local association of the National Teachers' Association.

Solidarity was on full display Tuesday as we honored our newly tenured educators and stood united for safe schools!

Thank you to everyone who wore their WETA shirts, participated in our Day of Action, and attended the meeting. We were proud to stand alongside our union siblings in CSEA to demand safe schools and worksites for all students and staff.

Our solidarity is our strength. We’ll keep showing up for our students and each other.

✊ TOMORROW IS OUR DAY OF ACTION!

Wear your WETA shirt to work and join us at the District Office at 6:00 PM, ahead of the 6:30 PM Board meeting!

We’ll be standing alongside our union siblings in CSEA to show our solidarity and call for urgent action to ensure safe, fully supported schools and worksites for all students and staff.

Your presence matters. The more of us who show up, the harder it is for the District to ignore our call for action.

We’re standing together to advocate for safe, fully supported schools alongside our union siblings in CSEA. Our unions are united in calling on the District to take urgent action to ensure safe working and learning conditions and provide students and staff with the support they need.

Our students and staff should receive the support they need, when they actually need it- not after concerns escalate or a crisis occurs.

We are standing together for safe, fully supported schools where students have what they need to learn and thrive, and staff have the training and resources they need to support every student.

Today’s the day! Coach Taylor, WCSD Teacher of the Year, will be honored by the Los Angeles Dodgers during a special pregame recognition behind home plate!

If you’re attending today’s game against the San Francisco Giants, arrive early and help us cheer on Coach Taylor! 🎉

BREAKING: We filed a lawsuit to reclaim billions lost in Prop. 98 funding.

Nearly 40 years ago, California voters passed Prop. 98 to establish a minimum public school funding guarantee in our state constitution. Governor Newsom and the legislature violated this guarantee when they chose to withhold nearly $6 billion dollars from our students and schools in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 fiscal years.

We are fighting back and demanding that the funds be returned to our schools.
