Just a little update to everyone now that things are starting to really take off for the season.
1. YES, we're going to have the Trick or Treat the Campground this year!! It will be Saturday, Oct. 9th. The bounce houses have been reserved, the tractors secured for the hay ride, and everything is a go. I hope everyone is as excited as I am. I really missed this event last year and I'm so glad we're able to have it again this year. Remember if you want to camp and participate in the event, the campground fills up fast, so plan on getting here early enough to get a site. I will post fliers of the event when it gets closer to time.
2. We will also be having our Disabled Deer hunt this year. It will be the first weekend (5th-7th) of November. Remember in order to apply for the hunt, since we take in a limited number of hunters, you MUST call in to apply on October 1st, between the hours of 9am - 12 noon, to the number 618-629-2320. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me (Lisa) anytime.
3. All the campground loops are open here in the park with a campground host in the Lakeview loop and one in the Shady Rest loop to get you registered once you get set up on your site. All the Class A campsites are electric, 30 & some 50 amp sites. There is water for you to fill your tanks up with, but not to hook up continually, a dump station, plenty of restrooms and 3 main shower houses. You are allowed 1 camper & 1 tent on each site, OR 2 tents per site. Your allowed 2 vehicles per site. All other vehicles can be parked in the over flow parking lot. Please do not park boats, trailers, vehicles in the grass. At this time, the primitive tent camping area is closed.
Reservations can be made for sites # 1-33 at www.camp.exploremoreil.com. All the other 200+ sites are first come, first serve.
Remember, if you put a tent or camper on a site, YOU MUST GO AHEAD AND PAY FOR THAT SITE at the time you put your equipment on the site. If you do not pay for your site the same day, we WILL remove your tent and Conservation Police officers will be given your tag number off your camper and not only will you have to pay for your site, but you could be written a ticket.
Lets all get out and enjoy the great outdoors this summer. We look forward to seeing you!
Thank you from the staff:
Robert Liefer - Site Superintendent
Lisa Black - Office Coordinator
Site Tech's - Joe Swallers, David Hock, Jacob Eller and John Furlow.
Campground Hosts: Marjie Jessen (Lakeview) & Doris Liefer (Shady Rest)
