I only had a class of one for the crown making class but we had fun and she has a beautiful crown that she designed herself.

The felt, hand sewing Birthday Crown classed that was canceled last week has been rescheduled for Monday, August 10, at 5:00. Please spread the word and let me know if you plan to attend. Attention! For those youth who turned in their reading logs, I now have the buy one get one free unlimited ride ticket certificates from Lake Winnie. Stop by the Library to pick yours up. I will have the list of those participants and the cards at the front desk.

We had a great time at our last Summer Reading Program and Awards Day last week. The Whitwell Police Department and Fire Department told the participants about their jobs let them see their vehicles and then them them cool off with a spray of water from the Fire Truck. The group then enjoyed a pizza party sponsored by the Whitwell Raceway. They also enjoyed digging for dinosaur “bones” in the sand box (sand donated by Smith’s Ace Hardware) and digging for a Dino skeleton in a plaster Dino skull. Awards were presented to those who turned in their reading logs. A good time was had by all!

The OHPL Book Club had a great discussion last night of Fredrik Backman's "My Friends." We hope you will join us next month for a discussion of "The Frozen River." I just finished listening to the audio book on LIBBY last week. It was really good - a mean villain that you will love to hate and a strong heroine - a midwife in the 1780's who is amazing.
