Downtown Wichita Falls Development We believe downtown is the heart of our city and is vital to the growth and success of Wichita Falls. Membership remains an essential part of our programs.

We help promote the downtown area and our business members. In 1994, North Texas Vision of Wichita Falls was incorporated as a 501 (c) 6 organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Wichita Falls by combating deterioration; promote the common good and general welfare of the community; improve living conditions and promote economic development in downtown Wichita Falls. Because the ‘par

ent organization’ was membership based, in 2000 the organization formed the 501 (c) 3 known as Downtown Wichita Falls Development, Incorporated. The Downtown Wichita Falls Development organization was created to assist in preservation of buildings, sites, and historical, traditional or cultural values; to perpetuate customs and traditions which seem to beautify and enrich the community life of Wichita Falls; to disseminate knowledge, promote interest and act in an advisory capacity to interested groups, property/business owners, investors or developers interested in the revitalization of Downtown Wichita Falls. Mission: Through public and private investment we will improve the downtown, entice new business and residents, and grow the economic base of our community and current businesses.

The festival doesn’t build itself… 🍀

This morning Justin, Bill, and Dusty from the DWFD board were out early moving equipment and getting downtown ready for the St. Patrick’s Day Festival.

No big production crew.
No giant event company.

Just a volunteer board rolling up their sleeves to make sure Wichita Falls has an incredible festival this Saturday.

Let’s get sentimental for a minute. 🍀

As many of you know, the past year has brought a lot of changes for Downtown Wichita Falls Development. One of the questions we’ve been asked most often is why we chose to move forward with the St. Patrick’s Day Festival this year instead of Cajun Fest.

The answer is simple: Danny Ahern.

Danny was a longtime president of DWFD, a proud Irishman, and the founder of the Downtown St. Patrick’s Day Festival. What began as a celebration among friends grew into a tradition that brought people from all over our community together downtown each March.

After Danny passed away in December of 2024, we spent a lot of time reflecting on the events that help define downtown Wichita Falls. As we are now a volunteer-run organization, we had to make some difficult decisions about what we realistically have the time and capacity to produce.

In the end, we felt the best way to honor Danny’s legacy was to continue the festival he created and loved.

Cajun Fest was a great event, and we know many people enjoyed it. We did too. Our hope is to explore new possibilities for a fall festival in the future.

For now, we invite you to join us downtown on March 14 for the St. Patrick’s Day Festival.

If you knew Danny, you know he believed the best celebrations were the ones shared with friends, good music, and a full glass.

So come out, enjoy the day, and raise a glass in sláinte to Danny. 🍻🍀
