The Food Bank provides supplementary assistance to local families during times of hardship. On average, each household receives food assistance from the Food Bank only 3 times a year, not every week.

John Hirschi, Honorary Chair in Memoriam for the Nourishing Lives. Building Tomorrow. Capital Campaign

In the early 1980s, John Hirschi saw that hunger was an issue in the Wichita Falls Area and chose to be a part of the solution. He and countless other volunteers helped form the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank in 1982, and John continued to be deeply committed to the mission and recognized that there is a need for a new Distribution and Education Center. Before his passing in 2025, he agreed to serve as the Honorary Chair for this critical project.
