We've often said, "You never know what you will find in the Wichita County Archives." Today was one of those days. Among the many papers give to the Archives by Louise Kelly, this picture was found. This young woman, aged 29, was very well known in Wichita Falls.

Members of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas Government Landmark Commission and the Wichita County Historical Commission refinished markers on the lawn of the Wichita County Courthouse. These markers honored those who had sacrificed for our country.

During National Historic Preservation Month, the Wichita County Historical Commission is looking for the oldest standing house in Wichita County. So far, we have found a house built in 1882.
Do you know one older? If so, post a picture and tell us the story.
The picture below is the Berry-Brown House, which stood at 1400 Travis. Built in 1892, the house burned in 2025.
