Please help get the word out.

Local Volunteer Fire Departments are facing exhausted resources while battling multiple wildfires within the area. To help give back to those who show up for the community, a Collection Drive will take place over multiple days in Wichita Falls.

The drive will take place at Sikes Senter Mall, located at 3111 Midwestern Parkway

Wednesday, September 2 | 1 to 4 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 3 | 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4.

The event will feature a curbside drop-off for items at the main entrance, near Boot Barn.

The event will benefit nine different VFD’s in the area: Wichita West, Archer City, Bowman, Charlie-Thornberry, Lakeside City, Jolly, Dean Dale, Cameron Gardens and Windthorst. Other agencies will be included if donations exceed the event organizers’ hopes.

Items needed for VFD supplies are:
Liquids: Water, Gatorade, Powerade

Foods: granola, pickles, jerky, nuts, crackers, gum

Other supplies: chapstick, eye drops, bandanas, small towels, cooling neck wraps, wipes, baby powder, sunscreen, Advil, Tylenol, Benadryl, cold packs, electrolyte packets, paper cups, paper plates, plastic utensils, and paper towels.

🎉 **Congratulations to Dionicia Lindsay **🎉
Wichita County's August Employee of the Month!

Dionicia is recognized for her willingness to step in wherever she is needed. Even after transferring from the Criminal Division to Finance, she continues to assist her former team when they are short-staffed—all while staying on top of her own responsibilities.

Her dependability, teamwork, and positive attitude make a difference to those around her every day.

Congratulations, Dionicia, and thank you for all you do for Wichita County!

🎉 July Employee of the Month: Jenny Battista 🎉

Please join us in congratulating Jenny Battista of the Wichita County Tax Office on being named Wichita County’s July Employee of the Month!

Jenny has been with the Tax Office since May 2021 and has worked in every department along the way. Today, she serves as the office’s Bookkeeping Supervisor—but her willingness to help certainly doesn’t stop there.

According to Chief Deputy Nikki Kingry, “Nothing scares her away. She’ll do anything at any time.” Jenny has even become the Tax Office’s go-to in-house IT person when a little extra technical help is needed!

Her versatility, dependability, and willingness to take on whatever comes her way make Jenny an invaluable part of the Tax Office team.

Congratulations, Jenny, and thank you for everything you do for Wichita County! 👏⭐

📅 Commissioners Court Work Session
🗓️ Friday, August 7
🕙 10:00 a.m.
📍 Wichita County Courthouse
---
As Wichita County prepares for significant industrial growth, it's important that we learn from communities already experiencing it.

Last week, I toured a workforce lodge serving a major hyperscale data center construction project. These facilities provide temporary housing, meals, transportation, recreation, and other daily necessities for construction workers—all in one secure location.

The goal is simple: help meet workforce needs while reducing pressure on local housing, roads, restaurants, grocery stores, and other community resources.

No single solution fits every project, but understanding the available options helps Wichita County make informed decisions as we prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

To continue that conversation, a representative from a workforce lodge management company will provide an informational presentation during the Wichita County Commissioners Court Work Session on Friday, August 7, at 10:00 a.m.

The presentation is open to the public, and I encourage anyone interested in Wichita County's future to attend.
