For the first time in Wichita, experience UFA and Fritz Lang's 1927 ground-breaking film 'Metropolis'. Fully restored to its original 135 minutes, now in stunning 4K and color and featuring the original motion picture score by Gottfried Huppertz performed by the Berlin Philharmonic.
Scoring 93% with combined critics on Rotten Tomatoes, Metropolis's influence on modern cinema is profound. This dystopian classic influenced 'Blade Runner', James Whale's 'Frankenstein' and 'Logan's Run'. It consistently is mentioned as one of the Top 25 films of All Time by Metacritic. The film, with a cast of thousands, predicted the rise of automation, robots, flying cars, The Ruling Class vs the Workers and many other marvels decades before any other science fiction production.
Set in an unnamed city of the future, 'Metropolis' is divided into two classes: The Elites who live in luxury amongst towering skyscrapers and exotic gardens, while the workers called 'Proles' toil in horrible conditions underground to keep the city running. When the son of the chief Oligarch discovers the worker's plight, he unites with a woman prophet to bring an end to the system - not realizing malevolent forces are at work to oppose them.
