So grateful to have been able to deliver Thanksgiving meals to families thanks to the Union Rescue Mission and to make this family’s holiday experience better thanks to the Wichita Police and Fire Foundation. We hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving!!!

Wichita Police Department Officer Ann Mora and Officer Alex Avendano are about to surprise a family of eight with some much needed household items for this upcoming holiday season with a “Random Act of Kindness”. The selfless act of these officers performing a thoughtful or helpful deed for another person, without expecting anything in return is exceptional. A family turning their life right side up but still having struggles can have a continued significant and positive impact on the recipient's happiness and well-being, while also benefiting the giver. Thank you WPD for assisting this family in such a time of need for them. Thank you for strengthening our community members.

I have always loved lowriders since I was a kid. Lowrider car shows were one of many things that kept me out of trouble and interested in community coming together. It’s pretty amazing that I get to merge two things I love for work and be able to spread that same joy I had.
Thank you to Horace Mann for helping make this special day work!
Thank you to the Wichita Police Department for the support and motors for making this an even bigger entrance!

Thankful for League 42 and WMCC for supporting the Bats & Badges initiative and organizing events such as Kickapalooza for first responders to have positive interactions. Not only that but also for the community to come together and get engaged in something positive. We had so much fun!

Day 2 of the Youth Citizens Police Academy is in the books!

We kicked things off with a lesson on Use of Force and Defensive Tactics, where participants had the unique opportunity to train with our VR Taser simulator and even deploy actual Tasers under supervision.

Next up was an introduction to NIBIN (National Integrated Ballistic Information Network). Students got to see how casings are matched using the shoot tank and learned how firing pin impressions help solve gun crimes.

We then explored traffic safety with a hands-on activity using drunk goggles to simulate field sobriety testing, showing the real dangers of impaired driving.

We wrapped up the day with a visit to the Motor Unit, where youth observed specialized motorcycle training and learned what it takes to safely patrol on two wheels.

Big thank you to Jersey Mike’s on WSU campus for providing lunch and to the Wichita Metro Crime Commission for keeping everyone fueled with snacks and drinks!
