Joining The Kansas Army National Guard
I have always wanted to be part of military service. I was 19 years old when my friend walked me into a Kansas National Guard office. After I had talked to other branches and wasn’t hearing what fit me. 13 years later I am now a recruiter for the Kansas Army National Guard. That recruiter showed me a path to joining the Kansas Army National Guard, and that changed my life.
That following January I was off to Fort Leonard Wood, MO for Basic Combat Training. After training, I was a traditional National Guard Soldier with B Battery 1-161st Field Artillery, 35thMilitary Police, and 1-108th Aviation. During this time I always wanted to wear the uniform full time. I wanted to help people as many people as possible improve their lives.
Joining allowed me to experience things I otherwise never would have: Driving large equipment, shooting amazing weapon systems, throwing live hand grenades, traveling to new places, gaining detailed knowledge skills to serve and protect the country and state, and all while getting a great paycheck and benefits to support my family. Along with travel to two other countries during my time of service to Africa and Kuwait. Now, as a full time Recruiter, a position I volunteered and fought for, I want to show others the same path my recruiter showed me. I’m now looking for a select few to join my team and family in the Kansas Army National Guard.
