Provided by the State of Kansas Department of Education (KSDE), Sunflower Summer provides a wide variety of ways for families to get out, explore something new, and enjoy time together. Kansas families can visit museums, zoos, historic landmarks and more for free!

Free breakfasts and lunches will be offered to all children 18 years old and younger at 34 locations as part of our Summer Food Program, which runs Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, July 26. Due to changes in federal regulations, children must be present to receive a meal and all meals must be consumed onsite. Learn more at usd259.org/summerfood.

Hello Cleaveland Families!

Please join us for one last celebration at the Community Open House on May 16th from 6:00 - 7:00pm.

This will be a chance to take a final tour of the school, visit with former students, staff, and families, and say goodbye before we close our doors for a final time.

Please invite any former students and families that you think would like to attend and do not receive our emails.

Hello Cleaveland Families!

Can you believe we are already to May? We have several things happening this month.

Our Staff Appreciation week will be May 6-10. Attached you will find a list of our staff’s favorite treats if you would like to send something to a staff member.

May 6 our PreK, Kinder, 1st grade, and MA classes will be heading to the zoo! May 9 our 2nd – 5th grades will be heading to the zoo! Please make sure that students are on time for this event so they do not miss the bus. Box lunches have been ordered for each student, those with special diets have been accommodated for; students will be charged their normal lunch for this (ie: free, reduced, or full). Please make sure that you apply sunscreen to your student in the morning and do not send any to school, per district policy staff is not allowed to apply this. No backpacks, water bottles, or spending money will be allowed. Parents that choose to attend will need to pay at the gate and stay with the teacher for the trip, no siblings will be allowed to accompany.

May 9 is our last skate night. This will be at Roller City from 6pm to 9pm. $5 admission will include skate rental.

May 10 is our field day! Please see the attached form for more information about this fun day!

May 17 our 5th grade will be having their Celebration Party from 4:15 to 9pm. Please see the information sent home by teachers.

May 16 is the last day for Stealth.

May 16 we will be hosting a Community Open House for everyone to have one last tour of Cleaveland before the school closes its doors. This starts at 6:00pm and will end at 7:00pm.

May 23 is our last day of school.

We have truly loved being a part of your families and we hope that each one of you has an amazing summer and we cannot wait to see the amazing things our students and families will go on to do.

Hello Cleaveland Families!

Our Field Day will be on Friday, May 10th this year. Our morning session for 3rd - 5th grades will be 9:30-11:30. Our afternoon session for PreK -2nd grades will be 1:30-3:30. If you would like to volunteer to help run an activity, please email Coach Drinnen at [email protected] by Monday, May 6.

To ensure that we have a successful and fun field day please follow these rules:

*Tennis shoes will be required. Those not in tennis shoes will not be allowed to participate.

*This will be a dress down day, please wear clothes that you can get dirty and/or wet. We recommend bringing a change of clothes as well.

*Bring a water bottle with your name on it.

*Please wear sunscreen. Please do not send sunscreen to school with your child, per district policy staff is not allowed to apply this to students.

Hello Cleaveland Families!

We will be having our family Stem Night this Wednesday, April 24, in the Cleaveland gym from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. We will have light snacks and drinks provided. Please enter through door 12 and sign in when you arrive. We are looking forward to a fun night with everyone! Please see attached flyers for the QR code to sign up.

Hello Cleaveland Families!

If you are planning on attending Lawrence, Stanley or Woodman for the 24-25 school year, please see the attachment. Each school will be hosting an open house for you to attend on May 9 from 5:30-7:00pm. This will be a wonderful opportunity for you to meet staff and take a tour of the building, we hope that you will be able to take advantage of this fun event.
