Fresh produce is key to a healthy diet, and unfortunately sometimes the most expensive and least accessible items for many Kansas families. That’s why, every week across Wichita, we partner with different organizations to offer fresh produce through our mobile produce pantries to anyone in need! The Summer Food program starts today! Free breakfasts and lunches will be offered to all children 18 years old and younger at 33 locations as part of our Summer Food Program, which runs through Friday, July 24. Learn more at usd259.org/summerfood

☀️ SUN Bucks are starting to be dispersed TODAY to families who have received an approval letter! ☀️

Looking for your SUN Bucks? Here's the dispersement schedule, based on the first letter of your last name:

5/27/26: A-G
5/28/26: H-M
5/29/26: N-S
5/30/26: T-Z

If you did not receive a letter from DCF notifying you that your child is eligible for SUN Bucks, you can apply online here until 5 PM on August 31st for the one-time benefit of $120 per each for each eligible child:

SUN Bucks benefit distribution begins tomorrow for families with children who were approved for SUN Bucks 2026! The $120 one-time benefit (per eligible child) will be loaded onto a family’s existing EBT card or on a new EBT card that will be mailed to the family’s home.

Benefits are expected to be distributed in order of last name over the next week.

If you did not receive a SUN Bucks approval letter from DCF, but believe your child may be eligible, you can submit an application at SUNBucks.dcf.ks.gov. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2026.

While using your benefits, watch out for skimming devices and track your purchases with the ebtEDGE mobile app or at ebtedge.com. Learn more: ebtcards.dcf.ks.gov.

The Kansas Food Bank is closed on Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day.

As we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, we are deeply grateful for their sacrifice and wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

All kids should have access to the meals they need to grow & thrive, especially during the summer months! The U.S. Department of Agriculture Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) offers free meals to any child 18 & under at hundreds of locations across the state.

Our rural drivers are often the ones seeing our pantry partners in action once they deliver the food. Yesterday, our driver Tim shared:

"I delivered to Decatur County Food Pantry at 9:15 am this morning, and I just happened to be driving back through from Norton in the afternoon when I saw their distribution in progress. When I deliver to Pam and her team, they are always so pleasant to work with and so grateful of how the Kansas Food Bank can assist with their need to combat hunger in the far northwest part of Kansas close to the Nebraska border.

They serve 100 families in Oberlin and other smaller rural communities surrounding them. Fresh produce is being delivered twice a month with additional protein sources such as eggs and some deli/frozen meals with small amounts of protein. The volunteers have a great system of setting up the distribution which speeds up the long line of vehicles having to wait. Shout out to the Decatur County Food Pantry team for going that extra step to provide help for their community."

The Kansas Food Bank is extremely excited to announce we've received an entire truckload of shelf-stable food items from The Church of Jesus Christ in Kansas, as one of the 250 JustServe & America250 truckloads being donated to hunger relief organizations nationwide.

In addition to the gift of food, over 200 volunteers from the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined us to give of their time and talents, helping us sort thousands of pounds of donations throughout the day.

Many thanks to Mayor Lily Wu, Kansas Latter-day Saints Wichita Stake President Chris Broberg, our very own Kansas Food Bank Board Chair Rebecca Rather for joining us to celebrate these incredible acts of kindness that will help us continue to feed hungry Kansans for months to come.
