🚧 Douglas Avenue Pilot 🚧

Don't forget! There is construction for a pilot project along Douglas from Washington to Grove. The pilot aims to slow down cars, improve safety for pedestrians and students, and reduce crashes.

Changes for the pilot include converting to a three-lane roadway configuration with on-street bicycle lanes, curb extensions, parking modifications, and enhanced crosswalks.

➡️ City staff will collect pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular counts; monitor intersections to determine whether traffic signal timing modifications are needed; and collect speed and travel-time data.

To help with school traffic, no work will be done during the week between I-135 and Grove while school is in session.

Last December, the City Council unanimously approved the over-naming of Ash and 13th street for Pastor J. P. Dennis Jr. Yesterday we officially celebrated this visual tribute to his legacy and impact on our city. For more than 5 decades, Pastor Dennis served this community not simply as a pastor, but as a leader, an advocate, a mentor, and a voice for people who too often went unheard.

May we honor his legacy not only by remembering his name, but by continuing his example of faith, service, courage and commitment to one another.
