Last night, Chief Atteberry addressed the City Council and handed out two promotions. First, Lieutenant Foxx was promoted to the rank of Captain. Second, Officer Trumbull was promoted to the rank of Detective. Both are well deserved.
These promotions reflect their dedication, professionalism, and continued commitment to serving the City of Bel Aire and its residents.

Starting today, August 31, the intersection at 53rd Street and Oliver is now a four-way stop. The change is intended to improve safety and help reduce the risk of future accidents.

In addition to installing blinking LED stop signs on Oliver, new pavement markings and stop ahead signs have been added to improve visibility and give drivers advance notice as they approach the intersection.

🚨Please avoid the area of North Lycee Street and East Granite Court while officers are working an active scene.

There is currently no threat to the public at this time. Please use an alternate route and allow officers room to work.

The Bel Aire Police Department is participating in the Labor Day STEP enforcement campaign from August 20 through September 7.

During this time, officers will be out looking for impaired drivers and other dangerous driving behaviors to help keep our roads safe.

🚗 Buckle up. Every trip. Every time.
📱 Put the phone down and focus on the road.

For the next couple of weeks, help us keep Bel Aire’s roads safe. Make good choices, buckle up, put the phone down, and plan ahead if you’re drinking. We’d much rather wave as you drive by than meet you during a traffic stop.

The City of Bel Aire Public Works Department is aware of an issue with the traffic signals at 45th St. N. and Woodlawn.

Before blame is placed and fingers pointed, unfortunately, traffic signals—much like cars, computers, and apparently everything else with electronics—occasionally have parts that fail.

The traffic lights are still functioning; however, motorists may experience a delay in the normal cycling of the signals due to a malfunctioning component.

Public Works is working to address the issue, and the signal timing will be corrected once the necessary replacement part arrives and is installed.

⚠️ Please use extra caution when traveling through the intersection and allow additional time for delays.

We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding while Public Works works to get the traffic signals back to normal operation.

We understand some drivers don’t or won’t agree with this change, however crash data and crash investigations show this intersection is becoming more dangerous and crashes are becoming more violent. This change is to increase safety for pedestrians and the motoring public. Slow down, phones down, focus on the road.

What an incredible event!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Bel Aire National Night Out: Celebrating America’s 250th. Seeing our community come together to enjoy great food, live music, games, and conversation made for a truly memorable night.
