Wichita Work Release Facility The Wichita Work Release Facility (WWRF) is an all-male, minimum-custody state prison located in Wichita in south-central Kansas.

The capacity is 250 minimum-custody male inmates. In accordance with KDOC and State of Kansas policies, information posted to this site may be removed for the following reasons:
(1) Comments not topically related to the site;
(2) Profane or inappropriate language;
(3) Sexual content or links to sexual content;
(4) Solicitations of commerce;
(5) Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity;
(6) In

formation that may compromise the safety or security of the public, public systems, the State of
Kansas, its agencies, officers, employees or public officials;
(7) Content that violates legal ownership interest of any party;
(8) Content that holds the State of Kansas, its agencies, officers, employees, or public officials in false
light; or
(9) Information that violates operational security or is protected by law. The above list shall not be deemed to be all-inclusive and the State of Kansas and KDOC reserve the right to add additional criterion. This facility’s public information officer, who monitors and administers this page, reserves the right to moderate comments and ban users from this page for violating the above rules.

TCC is a structured cognitive-behavioral program that may be offered as a self-administered intervention or in an inclusive classroom environment where residents may join others who are committed to working on bettering their lives, being productive with their time, and gaining the skills necessary to help them successfully return to society as law-abiding citizens.

Warden Snyder has declared an inclement weather day for WCF and WWRF which is effective from 10pm Saturday January 24, 2026 to 10am Sunday January 25, 2026.

WWRF Resident Michael Brisco has been attending the Old Town Barber College since May 14, 2024, to obtain his Barber License. He recently graduated from the college and took both of his state board tests and passed. He is now an official Barber with the Kansas Board of Barbering.

It is with great pleasure that we announce Trent Gunter as the new Major for the WCF/WWRF. Trent was hired on as a COI at Winfield in 1995. He transferred to EDCF in 1997 holding position as high as CCII and Training Lt. Trent’s journey is one of perseverance and growth, having held every rank up to now Major throughout his distinguished career.

As we recognize Trent’s well-deserved promotion, we are excited to see how he will lead us in the future and inspire those around him. Congratulation Major Gunter!
