For many, teacher tired has started to take hold. Let's remember we're not meant to do this important work alone.

Lean on your colleagues. Celebrate their strengths. Celebrate YOUR strengths. Offer support when it is needed - and accept it with with gratitude.

When we lift each other up, we all become stronger - and so do the students we serve.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are around the corner — and for many new teachers, they can feel overwhelming. One powerful tool to make these conversations more productive (and less stressful) is mediational language.

Mediational language helps teachers frame feedback with clarity, respect, and support. Instead of saying, “Your child is behind,” a teacher might say, “Here’s where your child is growing, and here’s how we can partner to strengthen their progress.” The shift in language builds trust and keeps the focus on collaboration.

Mentor teachers play a key role here. By role-playing conference scenarios, modeling effective language, and offering feedback on phrasing, mentors can help new teachers feel confident and prepared. The result? Stronger family relationships and more successful outcomes for students.

We are so proud to celebrate a KMIC legend! Former Wichita State University professor Dr. Sherry Goodvin — known for bringing her signature wisdom and humor to every class — has published a powerful new book that blends storytelling, reflection, and inspiration.

Using her experience walking The Camino as a metaphor for life’s journey, she shares the joys and challenges of discovering how to fill life’s gaps and intentionally design a life of joy. At the center of her message is the Trilogy of Self-Love — a daily practice woven into three sections of this transformative book.

Whether you are an educator, mentor, or simply someone seeking renewal, her words will guide you with honesty, laughter, and encouragement.

📖 Join us in congratulating her on this incredible achievement — and be inspired to take your own next step on the journey!
