🥞🧈🍳🥓What a beautiful morning for GraceMed Health Clinic's Hotcakes for Hopecare 2026 hosted by Jimmie's Diner! I had the 6:45 am shift, and on my team of celebrity servers were: Mayor of Wichita Lily Wu, Wichita District 4 Council Member Dalton Glasscock, City of Wichita- Government Manager Dennis Marstall, Wichita Police Department Chief Joe Sullivan, Wichita District 3 Council Member Mike Hoheisel, Wichita Fire Department Chief Tammy Snow, Wichita District 6 Council Member Maggie Ballard, and Wichita District 1 Council Member Joseph Shepard. We served up a delicious breakfast on the 10th anniversary of this great event! This morning's goal was to help raise critical funds for GraceMed's Patient Care Program, which provides medical, dental, vision, and pharmacy services to individuals and families in need throughout our community

I was honored to be asked to speak at the 80th Kansas State Council of Firefighters Conference and share the work we've done launching a Wichita Fire Department health and cancer screening initiative. The overall cancer detection rate among Wichita Firefighters screened stands at approximately 6%. Thank you to our program partners, including the City of Wichita- Government Human Resources Department, Kansas Health Foundation, Ascension Via Christi, Wichita Firefighters - IAFF LOCAL 135, and Beyond The Call.

The Wichita Music Census will launch soon, and we need your help to spread the word and encourage Wichitans 18 and older--who contribute to our city's music community in any way--to participate! This census, led by Sound Music Cities in partnership with City of Wichita- Government, Wichita State University WSU School of Art, Design and Creative Industries, Movement Musick & Kansas Arts Commission, is the first step to help determine the current needs, challenges, and opportunities for Wichita’s multifaceted music ecosystem.

Want to help shape the Wichita music scene? 🎵 🎶

Wichita is part of Kansas Music Cities Together, a year-long program to help Kansas communities better support their local music ecosystems. We’re looking for many voices, including organizations and individuals like you, to help us spread the word when the survey launches. The commitment itself is small: we just ask that you share the census with your network and encourage people to participate.

I was honored to welcome everyone to today's "Employer Action Session: Child Care Solutions for Workforce Participation" organized by Child Start, Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas, and the City of Wichita- Government. Child care isn't a women's issue or a family issue: it's an economic development issue. We all appreciated learning about MI Tri-Share Child Care from our Michigan colleagues: HealthWest, Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential, Vibrant Futures, and Wonderschool. And thank you to our event sponsors, Greater Wichita Partnership, AGH CPAs & Advisors, and Martin Pringle Law Firm for supporting this important workshop!
