There are more than 8 million registered motorcycles in the United States – a number that shows just how many people know the type of exhilaration and fun the open road can present.
However, the joy of motorcycling does not come without risk. During Motorcycle Safety Awareness
Month, EagleMed - Wichita, KS offers the following tips to keep you safe.
• Make sure you are licensed to ride. Requirements vary by state, but every state requires that
you have a motorcycle endorsement to supplement your normal driver’s license.
• Take a riding course. Instructional motorcycle courses are designed to teach new
and experienced riders important safety and riding skills.
• Wear the right gear. All riders are advised to wear a DOT-certified motorcycle helmet as well
as high-visibility clothing, long-sleeves, long-pants and appropriate footwear. Remember,
helmet laws vary by state.
• Follow the rules of the road and ride responsibly.
• Never ride under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Happy to say she’s one of our own! We absolutely agree that Cindy is a phenomenal Nurse/Paramedic and an amazing Base Medical Manager! Happy EMS week Cindy!

🚑 To bring awareness of what EMS does for our communities during EMS Week, we’re highlighting the individuals who serve on the front lines of emergency care.

Meet Cindy Betts, EagleMed - Wichita, KS Flight Nurse and Base Medical Manager, whose 28 years in EMS have been dedicated to caring for patients and supporting emergency medical teams. Cindy’s work in air ambulance services — including both airplanes and helicopters — helps bring critical care to patients when and where it’s needed most.

🚁 She's pictured here with members of her team on the top of the helipad at Via Christi St. Francis. As a Level I Trauma Center, rapid air transport can help patients access specialized care as quickly as possible, especially in severe or time-sensitive emergencies.

One of the most rewarding parts of the job, Cindy shares, is hearing about a patient’s positive outcome.
