Public Comment Opportunity📢

WAMPO has opened the public comment period for the draft Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for Federal Fiscal Years (FFYs) 2027-2030. A TIP is required for a metropolitan area to receive federal transportation funds. Demonstrating a planned approach, all regionally significant and/or federally funded transportation projects in the WAMPO region are required to be included in the TIP. The draft FFY2027-FFY2030 TIP includes 147 individual projects and programs, valued at more than $1.5 billion, and is available for public comment through July 16, 2026.

The center of the U.S. 54/I-135 interchange, as well as several associated ramps, will close beginning 7 p.m. Friday, June 12 and are expected to reopen early Monday, June 15. 🚧

🚗Washington Street to westbound U.S. 54
🚗Washington Street to eastbound U.S. 54
🚗Grove Street to eastbound U.S. 54

This Saturday, June 6, is the first day of operation for The Hub, Wichita's new transit center, at 207 S. Sycamore. From 1-5 p.m., we invite the community to come out to see the brand new building, which includes a new parking garage with 425 parking spaces - perfect for game days at the stadium, events in Delano and more. 🚌

🚏 All Wichita transit and paratransit rides will be free from June 6-20.
🚏 New transit routes will also go into effect on June 6.
🚏 Need help with the new routes? Staff will be available to help riders plan their trips.

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is hosting an open house for the K-254 Rock, Webb & Greenwich Interchange Study on Thursday, June 4, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Wichita Northeast Magnet High School, located at 5550 N Lycee St, Bel Aire, KS 67226.

The public is invited to attend any time during the event to learn about the study, review display materials and provide input. There will be no formal presentation, and attendees are welcome to come and go as their schedules allow and communicate with project staff.
