Hello Wickliffe! 2021 is just around the corner and we are trusting it will look a lot better than 2020. COVID-19 has changed the way we do just about everything including our pavilion reservation program. Our request/reservation procedure has gone virtual for the beginning of 2021. We will NOT have our initial, in-person pavilion reservation procedure, instead we ask WICKLIFFE RESIDENTS to make the request on line. Requests will begin to be accepted at NOON on Friday, January 1, 2021. (No sooner.) Go to www.cityofwickliffe.com to begin. From the home page, select the "Recreation" tab at the top of the page. Select the "Parks and Pavilions" option and then scroll through the page until you find the park/pavilion of your choice. Follow the directions that are on the page. We are asking that you fill out the request online, save it and attach it and send to the provided email address where we will start to process your request. We will be in contact with you to secure payment and then issue the permit. Just a reminder that pavilions are only reservable to Wickliffe residents. Please be patient as we work through this new process to keep you and our staff safe.

TURKEY HUNT CANCELLED.
Due to the substantial increase in covid cases in the area and taking into consideration the health and safety of our staff, volunteers and participants, we are cancelling the annual turkey hunt that was scheduled for Saturday, November 21 at Coulby Park. We have pivoted our supplies and efforts to partner with the Wickliffe Family Resource Center located at the high school. The Lubrizol Corporation very generously donated funds for this event and we will now direct those resources to the FRC. Please get in touch with Leah Reese, Service Coordinator for the Wickliffe Family Resource Center if you are in need of help this Thanksgiving. Please reach her by email [email protected] or through the FRC's page. Stay safe.

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for your patience and understanding at last night's Trick or Treat Drive Thru at the High School. The turnout was unprecedented, unanticipated and overwhelming. We know people were stuck in traffic for a long time, but we hope you had a chance to have some fun during this crazy year. The event was scheduled to end at 8PM and the last person got candy at 9PM. Thanks to organizer Leah Reese of the Wickliffe Family Resource Center and all of the community partners that were represented at this drive thru event. The Wickliffe Recreation Department was proud to partner with all. Thanks to Lubrizol for their financial contribution and the donation of hand sanitizer at the start of the route. Special thanks to the Wickliffe High School Cheer Squad for rocking the night! They made a huge contribution to the happiness of the event. Thanks!

Hello Wickliffe!
The Lake County Health Department has given us the "green light" to go ahead with our "Movie in the Park" while keeping with current CDC and Ohio Department of Health guidelines. "TOY STORY 4" will be the featured presentation on the big screen, right behind City Hall at dusk on Friday, July 17. We ask that you practice safe social distancing, bring your own chairs and blankets, only attend if you feel well, use the restroom before you get to the park, cover your coughs and sneezes, and keep your hands clean. Face coverings are strongly encouraged. We have limited the pre-movie activities to just music with our DJ starting at 8PM to help with safe social distancing. The movie will start soon after dusk a little after 9PM. We wanted to still be able to offer a fun activity for our community during this unusual time. NOPEC has donated funding to help sponsor this movie event. If you would like to be an additional sponsor, please contact the Wickliffe Recreation Department.

At last night’s City Council meeting, Mayor Barbish and City Council agreed to make the tough decision to close the Aquatic Center at Coulby Park for the 2020 season. The health and safety of our staff and our community coupled with the stringent COVID-19 virus guidelines from the state and accompanying economic factors drove this decision. We will concentrate on making much needed repairs to the Aquatic Center this summer and focus on providing outstanding facilities at both Jindra and Coulby pools for their reopening in the summer of 2021.

We are moving to Wickliffe after Christmas. I am trying to find somewhere like a recreation center for my 13 year old son to swim or shoot hoops, similar to The Middleburg Heights rec center he is used to. Can anyone recommend anything for me? Thanks in advance.
Does Wickliffe offer a youth basketball program? My son is 7 and in second grade. We did Eastlake last year because I couldn't find any information on Wickliffe options. I heard after the fact that Wickliffe does offer basketball. Do you have any info or can you point me in a direction? There was nothing on the website that I could find.
