We are aware of some concerns regarding the T-ball and coach pitch schedules. These may not be the final schedules; they are draft ideas of what the schedules may look like. We hear your frustrations, and we know many people care deeply about the future of recreation in Wiggins. That is something we all have in common.

There is also a comment that we hired our Recreation and Events Coordinator solely because of who they are married to. This is patently false. Hiring decisions are made through an objective process that focuses on qualifications, experience, desire, and the needs of the position. We had two applicants for this position, and we chose the applicant who demonstrated a commitment to do their best with the resources they have. If someone out there thinks they can do a better job, then they should have applied.

While our new Recreation and Events Coordinator is learning her new role, we ask that you be patient with the process. If you have any questions or concerns, please bring them to our attention, and we will do our best to address them. Supporting her in her new position will go a long way towards the program's success. Constructive criticism is welcome, but not in a public forum. Praise in public, reprimand in private.

At the end of the day, we all want the same thing: strong, successful programs for our kids and families. We appreciate the feedback and encourage continued ideas and community involvement. In the spirit of feedback, please feel free to call the Town and ask to speak with the Recreation and Events Coordinator or the Town Manager, and they will answer your questions and concerns. 970-483-6161

Thank you.

Dear Wiggins Residents:

With the growing concerns we are facing this year about the lack of snowpack and moisture, we need to be mindful of how much outdoor watering we are doing. Currently, the town doesn’t have any water restrictions, but that may change as we move towards summer. Here are some tips to keep the lawn green all year round
while conserving water:

1. Water your lawn after the sun has gone down or in the early morning before 9am. This reduces evaporation.
2. Adjust your mower deck so that you are cutting the grass between 3.5”-4”. This helps shade the soil and keep moisture in the grass blades and roots.
3. Mulch your lawn; don’t bag your lawn clippings. Mulching helps shade the soil and retain moisture in the ground.
4. Make sure to maintain sharp lawnmower blades; doing so will ensure a clean cut that won’t stress the grass after mowing.
5. Spring aeration loosens up the soil, allowing oxygen into the ground, and helps with water runoff.
6. If you are watering and the water is running off onto the sidewalk, pathways, or driveway, then you may be watering too much.
7. Regularly check your sprinkler system to make sure that heads are working properly, the clock is set accordingly, and that you don’t have any leaks.
8. There are times when power surges or outages cause sprinkler timers to reset, especially those without battery backup systems. If you notice a power surge or outage, make sure to check your timers.

Water Schedule:
Odd-numbered houses - Monday/Wednesday/Friday
Even-numbered houses - Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday

NO WATERING ON SUNDAYS AND BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9AM-6PM DURING THE WEEK!

Let’s all do our part to help conserve water.

Thanks.
