As the Superintendent of Wiggins School District and on behalf of the Board of Education,I want to take a moment to reaffirm how much the FFA program means to our school district. FFA is not just an extracurricular activity—it’s a cornerstone of leadership development, agricultural education, and community involvement for our students. The impact it has on building character, responsibility, and lifelong skills is immeasurable. Despite recent rumors, there are absolutely no plans to shut down this vital program. Unfortunately, these false claims have not only caused unnecessary concern, but they’ve also begun to tarnish the legacy of our outgoing FFA advisor, who has devoted years of passion and dedication to building a strong foundation for our students. In addition, the transition to a new teacher is being made more difficult by this misinformation. We ask for the community’s support in setting the record straight. We remain fully committed to ensuring the FFA and Ag program thrives for generations to come.

Good People of Tiger Nation!

I'm writing to share an important situation involving one of our students who was set to travel with us on an upcoming educational trip to Spain.

Unfortunately, due to unexpected changes in her personal and financial circumstances, she may no longer be able to join us. This experience represents a unique and valuable opportunity for her growth, learning, and cultural enrichment — something she has worked very hard toward.

The MS nutrition classes studied about hunger and food insecurity. Recently, they took a field trip to the Wiggins Community Church food pantry and were then challenged to come up with different ways to raise money and/or collect food for the pantry. One class came up with a field activity day, called “Pay to Play”. Another class sold bracelets to play Rock, Paper, Scissors and the one with the most bracelet won a prize. The last class did a bake sale. Total raised was $1150 for the food pantry.

This class along with the culinary classes are taught by Rhonda Aldrich! Invaluable life skills are taught but more importantly ,these kids are learning how to give back to our community!
