The Stone County Board of Supervisors is excited to share a colorful makeover at the McHenry Library Splash Pad! We’ve given the splash pad a fresh new look with bright, fun colors that make it an even more inviting place for families to enjoy these warm summer days.

Bring the kids, cool off, and make some memories! It’s just a quick stop away to have some fun in the sun, the splash pad is a great place to beat the heat.

We hope you’ll come check out the refreshed space and enjoy one of Stone County’s family-friendly amenities.

The Stone County Board of Supervisors was honored to recognize Ava Nelson during today’s Board meeting for her outstanding representation of Stone County at this year’s Annual Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.

Ava served as an exceptional ambassador for our community, representing Stone County with grace, professionalism, and pride throughout the event. Her positive attitude and dedication reflected the values that make our county such a special place.

We sincerely thank Ava for the time and effort she devoted to representing Stone County and for being such an outstanding example of our community. We are proud of the way she represented Stone County and congratulate her on a job well done.

Holiday Closure Notice

The Stone County Board of Supervisors would like to remind the public that all Stone County offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2026, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

Normal business operations will resume on Monday, July 6, 2026.

As our nation celebrates 250 years of freedom, we encourage everyone to enjoy the holiday responsibly, spend time with family and friends, and take a moment to honor the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country.

The Stone County Board of Supervisors is pleased to announce that the West McHenry Road Bridge at Little Biloxi River is now OPEN to traffic.

We ask all residents and travelers to use caution as they travel through the area. Temporary traffic control signs and other work-zone signage may still be in place while final improvements are completed. Please slow down, remain alert, and follow all posted signs to help ensure the safety of everyone using the roadway.

We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our citizens during the bridge closure and thank everyone who worked to restore this important route for our community.

The Stone County Board of Supervisors extends its sincere appreciation to the many leaders, agencies, and neighboring communities who provided support during the recent flooding event in Stone County. Your timely assistance and willingness to respond during a period of need were invaluable to our community.

We offer special recognition to Forest County Board President Ms. Terri Bell; Hattiesburg Mayor Toby Barker; the Jackson County Board of Supervisors, including County Administrator Mr. Brian Fulton; and the Harrison County Board of Supervisors, including County Administrator Mr. Bobby Trosclair. We also thank Mr. Tyler Gentry, Public Works Director for the City of Gulfport, and Mr. Ryan Busby with h2o innovation. Your outreach, encouragement, and coordination of resources greatly strengthened our emergency response. In particular, your assistance in securing barricades, critical equipment, and materials were essential to protecting our citizens and infrastructure.

Events such as this serve as a powerful reminder that strong communities are built upon cooperation, relationships, and shared commitment. We are fortunate to be surrounded by dedicated public servants and neighbors who consistently stand ready to lend their support and work collaboratively for the greater good.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT – FLOOD SHELTER INFORMATION AND ROAD CLOSURES

Residents of Stone County affected by flooding who need shelter may seek refuge at:

Stone Middle School Shelter
532A E. Central Avenue
Wiggins, Mississippi

The shelter is currently open and available for residents impacted by flooding. Food service is available daily from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

If you need a safe place to stay, please proceed to the shelter as conditions allow and follow all guidance from local emergency officials.

Safety Reminders:

• Continue to monitor local weather forecasts and emergency updates.
• Stay off roads that are damaged, flooded, or closed.
• Never drive through standing or moving water.
• If you encounter a roadway covered by water, turn around and find an alternate route.

Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
