Super excited to be a part of the Wiggins Junior Fire Academy! 🚒🔥

Looking forward to spending time with these future leaders while teaching fire safety, teamwork, kindness, community service, and having a lot of fun along the way.

Year 2 is officially underway, and we can’t wait to make more great memories!

The Stone County Friends of the Libraries will commemorate the nation’s 250th birthday with “America 250: Celebrate in Stone” on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. in Blaylock Park in Wiggins.

Because the event falls on the anniversary of
the Normandy landings, the day will also include a brief D-Day remembrance ceremony with historical readings, a moment of silence and recognition of local veterans.

The event will also feature educational programming like historic readings, a 1976 pop-up display, student art and essay contests, a community story booth, a community celebration to open a 1976 time capsule, and more family-friendly activities!

The program will honor service and sacrifice while celebrating 250 years of American history and the community's shared story.

This event has been made possible by Friends of the Stone County Libraries, the City of Wiggins, Stone County, the Mississippi Humanities Council, the Golden Gals, and the Pine Forest Regional Library System.

**Stay late and join the Pine Hill Social after the time capsule is opened**

THATS MY DAD!!!!!

Help us congratulate our very own Fire Chief, Steven Purvis, on being nominated and selected as Vice President of the Southern District of the Mississippi Fire Fighters Association!

In this leadership role, Chief Purvis will help represent firefighters and fire departments across South Mississippi, serve as a voice for the fire service, support training and professional development initiatives, and work alongside fire service leaders from across the state to strengthen the Mississippi fire service.

This honor reflects Chief Purvis’ dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving not only the City of Wiggins but firefighters throughout Mississippi. We are proud to see his hard work and passion recognized at the state level.

Congratulations, Chief Purvis! We know you will represent Wiggins and the Southern District with pride and professionalism.

The Mississippi Executive Fire Officer Program, Session 2. These students worked diligently on their applied research projects, finalizing their research questions and refining their problem and purpose statements as they prepare to begin their research. They engaged in leadership discussions led by Instructor Supervisor Luke Smith on insights from Dick Winters, and Instructor Chief Matt Hinkle presented on the use of AI in research. They also heard from guest speakers Dr. Brian Boutwell, PhD from the University of Mississippi, Dr. Reed Abraham from the Mississippi Insurance Department, and Jesse Bowman of the Mississippi State Fire Academy, who led a session on APA formatting.

Hey everyone, Ruby’s mom here… 🐾

Miss Ruby hasn’t been feeling very well, so she’s taking a short break for a few days to get some rest & take her medicine. ❤️

She can’t wait to get back to showing all of her friends the fun things she’s been up to once she’s feeling better. Thank you all for loving our sweet girl so much!!! 🐶🚒

The face you make when you find out both of your parents are leaving you this week… 🫠🙃😅
