WILDER POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE

On May 5, 2026, officers with the Wilder Police Department conducted a traffic stop in Greenleaf, Idaho.

During the course of the investigation, officers conducted a lawful search of the vehicle. The driver, identified as Mr. Pettibone of Boise, Idaho, was arrested on felony and misdemeanor drug related charges.

During the search of the vehicle, officers also discovered materials describing the s*xual abuse of children.

Following a subsequent investigation, Mr. Pettibone was charged with two felony counts of Visual Representation of the Sexual Abuse of Children in violation of Idaho Code § 18-1507C.

The Wilder Police Department is asking anyone who may have concerns regarding Mr. Pettibone's interactions with children to contact Corporal Blanco through Non-Emergency Dispatch at (208) 454-7531.

All criminal charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

****Press Release****

On 04/03/26, the Wilder Police Department investigated a Prostitution case that took place in the Housing Authority (Chula Vista), in Wilder. Officers were called to the area when someone reported that a male and female were attempting to sell s*x to residents in the area.

Interviews with several of the residents took place. Each stated that they were approached about the prostitution and given a phone number to call if they wanted to buy their services.

The male and female were located and interviewed where they eventually admitted to what they were doing. A report was submitted on the two for Prostitution and they were officially charged on 06/11/26.

As the school year wraps up in our area, we wanted to take the opportunity to share information with parents about the large number of v**es seized by our School Resource Officer this year. This is not just a trend we are seeing locally, schools across Idaho and the country are dealing with the same issue.

We encourage parents and guardians to have conversations with their teens about the dangers and consequences of using to***co, ni****ne, and ma*****na products. It is also important to discuss the seriousness of bringing these items onto school property and exposing other students to them.

Many v**e products contain high levels of ni****ne and other harmful substances that can impact adolescent brain development, learning, and overall health. In addition to the health risks, possession or use of these products by minors can result in school discipline and legal consequences.

Working together as parents, schools, and our community, we can help keep students safe, healthy, and focused on their future

Click It or Ticket

The Wilder Police Department is partnering with the Idaho Transportation Department’s Office of Highway Safety and other law enforcement agencies statewide for the 2026 Click It or Ticket campaign, running May 11–31. Officers will increase patrols to educate Idahoans on the importance of seat belt use, with a particular focus on rural areas where fatalities are most common.

Of the 160 people in passenger vehicles over age 7 who were killed in Idaho in 2024, only 62 were wearing seat belts. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), seat belts cut the risk of death and serious injury in half. Based on that effectiveness, an estimated 62 Idahoans survived crashes in 2024 because they buckled up.

“More Idahoans are buckling up, but we need to do better to prevent fatal and serious injury crashes,” said Josephine Middleton, Highway Safety Manager. “Taking two seconds to buckle up makes you 50% more likely to survive a crash.”

People not wearing seatbelts continue to make up a disproportionate share of Idaho’s traffic deaths. The high-visibility enforcement effort is part of a national campaign coordinated by NHTSA.

We jointly urge drivers and passengers to buckle up every trip and ensure children are secured in the proper car seat or booster.

On April 27, 2026, officers from the Wilder Police Department responded to a single-vehicle accident that occurred overnight.

The driver of the vehicle utilized a business parking lot to execute a turn, resulting in the vehicle entering the canal.

Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any injuries.

This incident serves as a reminder to exercise caution when operating a vehicle near canals, particularly during periods of rising water levels.

We want to remind drivers to remain vigilant and cautious, at all times, while driving!!
