Information from KYTC District 6 and City of Newport, KY for bridge inspections on 471 bridge beginning on Monday 8/24. See attached

TRAFFIC ALERT: Drivers who use the I-471 Daniel Carter Beard Bridge should plan for daytime lane closures next week as KYTC conducts a routine bridge inspection.

Closures are scheduled Monday through Thursday, Aug. 24-27, with Friday reserved as a make-up day if needed. Please allow extra time and use caution when traveling through the area.

Today the on duty crew had a special group of kids come and visit the firehouse for a tour. These children are home schooled and will get together and take field trips to various locations around the area. Home fire safety is paramount to be taught in schools and in the home. We thank you all for the attention and we hope that you had fun on your visit.

School is in full swing, and we’re still gathering school supplies. Collection barrels can be found in the lobby of the city building at 520 Licking Pike. Let’s join forces to help the kids have a successful school year.
