The Wildwood Crest Police Department is proud to introduce the newest addition to Crest Memorial School, School Resource Officer Trayvon Young!

Officer Young is a five-year veteran of the Wildwood Crest Police Department and a Wildwood native who has always enjoyed being involved in his community. Many of our youngest students may already recognize him from his time serving as an Adopt-A-Cop for the Pre-K and Kindergarten classes.

Officer Young is also a certified Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) member and recently completed specialized School Resource Officer training, earning certification through the New Jersey Police Training Commission.

We are excited to partner with Crest Memorial School to enhance school safety while continuing to build upon the strong relationships we already have with the students and staff. Officer Young’s role will extend well beyond school security. He will be a familiar face, a trusted resource, and an active part of the school community.

Please join us in welcoming SRO Young to Crest Memorial School and wishing all of our students and staff a safe, successful, and memorable 2026–2027 school year!

The Wildwood Crest Police Department has received reports of possible coyote sightings in our area. Coyotes are adaptable wild animals and can be found throughout New Jersey. Residents and visitors are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and take precautions, especially when outside with pets or children.

Please review and follow the guidance from New Jersey Fish & Wildlife below for information on safely coexisting with coyotes, protecting pets, and what to do if you encounter one.

Coyotes are adaptable wild canines that play a vital role in our ecosystem, but human interaction can change their behavior and lead to safety risks. Here’s how to coexist safely:

🚫 Never feed coyotes.
🗑️ Secure garbage, pet food, and compost piles.
🐕 Keep pets indoors at night and supervise them while outside.
🌳 Clear brush and dense weeds from around dwellings to reduce protective cover for coyotes.
💡 Install motion-sensitive lights around your home.
📣 Scare off coyotes with loud noises, sirens, or garden hoses.
🧒 Always supervise children while outdoors.

📞 If you see a coyote acting aggressively, sickly, or showing no fear of people, report it immediately to the DEP Hotline at 877-WARN-DEP.

Happy National Dog Day!

Today, we’re giving some extra recognition to two very important members of the Wildwood Crest Police Department, K-9 Finn and K-9 Quest!

Finn and Quest are more than just four-legged partners. They are dedicated members of our department who work alongside their handlers to help keep our officers, residents, and visitors safe.

Please join us in wishing K-9 Finn and K-9 Quest a very Happy National Dog Day! We may be a little biased, but we think we have two of the best. 🐾
