In January the WFD moved to the new National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) and a new records management system. Below are our incident statistics for the first six months of 2026 and July’s statistics. Your Wildwood City Firefighters have remained busy this year and are dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our residents and visitors.

Yesterday morning, members of the Cape May County Urban Search & Rescue Team (CMC USAR) conducted a structural collapse drill at an acquired structure. This training allows our personnel to stay proficient and hone their technical rescue skills, in order to maintain a constant state of readiness to respond to these complex, high-risk incidents.

Last night the WFD hosted the Annual Wildwood Firefighters FMBA Local 50 Retirees BBQ. This long standing event brings together current and former members to enjoy a night of sharing stories, laughs, and camaraderie. As always, a great time was had by all!

Squad Co. 3 and North Wildwood Fire Department Ladder Co. 2 (B Platoon).

At approximately 0640 hours this morning Ladder 2/B Platoon was dispatched to 1st Ave and New Jersey Ave for an electrical transformer arcing. While on location the crew noticed heavy smoke coming out of one of the exhaust vents from a building down the street. Crews made entry and located a fire in one of the ovens. A commercial structure fire box response was requested. The fire was quickly knocked down and the incident was held to Ladder 2 & WFD Squad 3. Due to the quick actions, the fire was quickly extinguished and the business was able to open later in the day.

The Wildwood Police Department will pay our respects at the services for Patrolman Shawn Stimmel on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 08:45 hours at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, New Jersey.

The entire Wildwood Police Department family—current and former, sworn and civilian—is welcome to join us as we offer our final respects to Ptlm. Stimmel and stand alongside his family during this difficult time.

We hope you will join us as we honor Ptlm. Stimmel, his years of service, and the person he was to his family, friends, and fellow officers.
