Rural Dumpster rates will be increased to $65.00 per month, we will still be picking up weekly. This will be in effect on July 8th so the billing we do at the end of July will have the new rate.

RATE INCREASES:
Sewer:
As we wind down on the sewer construction project a rate increase will be put in place starting July 1st. As you know we have to raise the sewer rate from $38.00 to $72.00 to pay for the loan and reserve accounts USDA requires us to have. This increase had to be done before the project is done and finalized which is right around the corner. We have been updating everyone on this increase in the newsletters that have been included with your utility bills every month for well over a year and well now it's time that it goes into effect.
Water:
We are almost done with the PNA (Project Needs Assessment) report which is required to apply for grants. This PNA will list all the things we need to update on our water equipment which includes new meters. We currently are losing 40-60% of our water through the meters as they are old and running slow. We need to line our storage tanks as a maintenance project. We will need to rebuild our holding tank or replace it. We need to upgrade our filtering equipment. So with all these projects needing done we will seek as many grants as possible to assist us, however they require us to be at the state average water rates to qualify for those grants. For us to get to that rate we will be raising our water rate from 38.00 to 58.00 for the minimum charge.
Trash:
We have two old trash trucks that is costing a fortune to keep running and maintained. The landfill rate went up a couple of years ago and fuel is crazy high right now. We need to work towards purchasing a newer trash truck and replace some dumpsters. We do have several dumpsters in the rural areas as well. So to keep things moving forward with the service we must raise the intown residential rate from $24.00 to $30.00, the commercial and business rates will go up $10.00 and the rural dumpster rate will likely be increased to around $65.00. We are still working with the trash truck driver and getting some additional information from him before a set price for rural dumpsters is determined, so just a heads up a rate increase is coming.
For residents in the town the total rate increases listed above total $60.00 above what you are paying now. The board had to make some very hard decisions to keep this town moving forward for the betterment of the town. These increased rates will go in effect July 1st, so the billing you get at the end of July will have these new rates on them.

We would like to remind everyone of 2 things:
1. Tree Dump is only for RESIDENTS of Wiley and only for Tree and Yard debris as in grass, garden debris, bushes and such. It is not a trash dump/do not take furniture, appliances, tires, electronics, or household trash to this TREE dump. Anything other than tree and yard debris you will need to haul to City of Lamar's landfill. It is being monitored by camera and any violators will be ticketed or the sheriff called on you. The State inspects the tree dump and if anything besides tree and yard debris if found there they will shut it down.
Reminder for residents who are unable to haul your yard debris to the tree dump, you can bag the grass clippings in bags that one person can lift and put them next to a dumpster, not in front of them.
2. Dumpsters: Do not put oil, paint, tires, furniture, appliances, construction materials, animals, electronics like tv's, computers, copiers etc in the dumpsters. You must haul those items to City of Lamar's landfill. Do not put grass, weeds and tree debris in the dumpsters, haul those items to the tree dump or bag them and place them next to a dumpster.
Thank you for your assistance in keeping the trash costs down and the tree dump from being closed.
