We are saddened to hear about another unfortunate fire that claimed the life of another local boy with so much more ahead of him. Nikoli was a big fan of animals, especially sea life, so we wanted to encompass that into this design.
We launched a campaign with the family's approval to help ease any financial burdens that come of this.

Wilkes-Barre City Fire Department receives new
Automated External Defibrillators

The Wilkes-Barre City Fire Department has received five new LIFEPAK 1000 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to replace the units carried on Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Truck 6, and Special Operations 1.

In addition to the department's front-line fire apparatus, AEDs are also carried on Fire Department vehicles F-6, F-11, Truck 5, and Engine 5.

Early defibrillation is widely recognized as the single most important factor in improving survival rates for victims of sudden cardiac arrest caused by ventricular fibrillation. The sooner a shock is delivered, the greater the chance of restoring a normal heart rhythm.

Defibrillation administered within three minutes of cardiac arrest offers the highest likelihood of success. For every minute that passes without defibrillation, the chance of a successful resuscitation decreases by approximately 10 percent.

The Wilkes-Barre City Fire Department has equipped all front-line fire apparatus with AEDs since 2001, demonstrating its long-standing commitment to providing rapid, lifesaving emergency care.

The department received a grant of $13,965 from the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner to cover the cost of the new AEDs.

The Commonwealth of PA fireworks law (Act 74 0f 2022) and the City of Wilkes-Barre fireworks ordinance https://www.wilkes-barre.city/DocumentCenter/View/171/Wilkes-Barre-City-Fireworks-Ordinance prohibit consumer fireworks use within city limits.

The safest way to enjoy fireworks is by attending a professionally organized public display.

It was a spectacular evening in Wilkes-Barre for the America250PA Commonwealth Concert Series. Luzerne County’s own Eddie Day & TNT, the 90's chart-toppers En Vogue and the masterful headline set by Lady A was a night to remember. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the community, the history of our nation, and the Commonwealth of PA.

The Wilkes-Barre City Fire Department is looking forward to a great concert tomorrow evening in Kirby Park as we celebrate America250PA and our nation's upcoming 250th anniversary.

This event represents months of planning, hard work, and outstanding collaboration among the Wilkes-Barre City Government, Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, Wilkes-Barre City Fire Department, Wilkes-Barre City DPW, Special Events Coordinator Mike Slusser, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the America250PA team.

We would also like to thank our mutual aid partners who will be assisting with coverage to help ensure the safety of our community throughout the event.

To everyone attending, we hope you enjoy the concert, celebrate this historic milestone, and have a safe and memorable evening. As America approaches its 250th birthday, events like this remind us of the importance of community, service, and the shared values that bring us together.

Today we proudly celebrate the graduation of Joey Brittain, Rich Gallagher Jr., and Tyler Shephard from the Allentown Fire Academy.

Over the past five months, Joey, Tyler, and Rich have successfully completed rigorous physical training and intensive coursework covering all aspects of fire science and pre-hospital emergency medicine. Their dedication and hard work have earned them certifications as EMT-B, Firefighter II, Water Rescue Technician, Hazardous Materials Operations, EVOC/UTV Operator, Vehicle Rescue Technician, and Pumper and Aerial Driver/Operator.

Their training does not end here. Over the coming weeks, they will continue with on-the-job training before being assigned to a platoon, where they will begin long, fulfilling, and rewarding careers serving the residents and visitors of our great city Wilkes-Barre City Government.

Joey, Tyler, and Rich, congratulations on this outstanding achievement. We are proud to welcome you to the department and look forward to the positive impact you will make in our community for years to come.
