The Luzerne County Transportation Authority is the public transportation provider in Luzerne County, PA. Formed in Wilkes-Barre in 1972, we provide public transportation in a 900-square mile area in Northeastern Pennsylvania. In 2023, we provided 900,000 fixed route and shared ride passenger trips. LCTA offers convenient and affordable transportation to essential services such as employment, educa
tion, medical care, grocery shopping, and nutrition. This includes ensuring for seniors have access to health care and supporting the continued independence of transit-dependent individuals. LCTA currently has 18 bus routes and a Shared Ride Program that transports seniors, people with disabilities, and people on medical assistance. LCTA plays a vital role in our community, connecting people and places; it is an essential lifeline. LCTA introduced LCTA CONNECTS – the first microtransit service in NEPA -- in November 2024.
