🎓⭐ Congratulations, Wilkes County Class of 2026! ⭐🎓

Tonight marks a milestone that reflects years of hard work, determination, sacrifice, and achievement. On behalf of Sheriff Chris Shew and the dedicated men and women of the Wilkes County Sheriff's Office, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to every graduate from North Wilkes High School, West Wilkes High School, East Wilkes High School, Wilkes Central High School, and Wilkes Early College High School.

As you walk across the stage tonight, remember that your diploma is more than a piece of paper—it represents your perseverance, your dreams, and the limitless opportunities that lie ahead. Whether your next chapter leads you to college, the workforce, military service, trade school, or another path, know that you carry the pride of your family, your school, and your community with you.

As you celebrate this special evening, we encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly. Please make smart decisions, look out for one another, and never hesitate to call for a safe ride if needed. The future of Wilkes County is sitting in those graduation chairs tonight. We challenge each of you to make a positive difference wherever life takes you. Lead with integrity. Serve others. Be kind. Work hard. Never underestimate the impact one person can have on a community, a state, a nation, or even the world.

Your journey is just beginning, and we are proud to call you the next generation of leaders, innovators, educators, first responders, business owners, and citizens who will help shape the future.

Congratulations, Class of 2026! Your Wilkes County family is proud of you, and we can't wait to see what you accomplish.

Today, the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office honors and remembers the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our nation.

🚨☀️ HOT CARS CAN TURN DEADLY IN MINUTES ☀️🚨

The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office and Safe Kids Wilkes County want to remind everyone to always check your back seat before leaving your vehicle — especially during these dangerously hot summer days.

Today’s outdoor temperature reached 95°F, while the inside of a vehicle climbed to an alarming 114°F in just a short amount of time. Even with windows cracked, temperatures inside a car can rise rapidly and become deadly for children.

👶 A child’s body heats up 3–5 times faster than an adult’s.
🚗 Never leave a child unattended in a vehicle — not even for a minute.
📱 Place your phone, purse, or another important item in the back seat as a reminder.
👀 Always “Look Before You Lock.”
☎️ If you see a child alone in a vehicle, call 911 immediately.

Together, we can prevent tragic accidents and keep our children safe this summer.

🚔🇺🇸 Today, some of our deputies with the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office had the opportunity to stop by the Shepherds Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department Open House and spend time with members of the department and the community on such a beautiful day in Wilkes County.

We want to thank Shepherds Crossroads VFD for hosting a wonderful community event filled with great food, music, fellowship, and fun activities for the kids, including a bounce house that everyone enjoyed. Events like this are a great reminder of how strong our communities are when neighbors come together.

We also want to recognize and thank all of the Volunteer and Paid Firefighters across Wilkes County for their dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting the people of this county every single day. Your hard work and service do not go unnoticed.

If you are looking for a way to give back and make a difference in your community, consider joining your local fire department. Our volunteer fire departments are always in need of dedicated men and women willing to serve. By volunteering, you can help save lives, protect property, and make a lasting impact in Wilkes County.

Thank you again to Shepherds Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department for the hospitality and for all you do for our county! 🚒🔥👨‍🚒
