NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND INTENT TO APPROVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY
TAKE NOTICE that the Wilkes County Board of Commissioners (hereinafter the “Board of Commissioners’) intends to consider and take action with respect to certain economic development activity which Wilkes County (hereinafter the “County”) proposes to undertake pursuant to G.S. §158-7.1(a). The nature of the activity to be considered consists of an economic development project with the name “Project Pressure,” which involves potential expansion and upfit of an existing facility by Dugz, LLC, d/b/a Bevara High Pressure Processing Tolling Services (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”), within the municipal limits of the Town of Wilkesboro, Wilkes County, North Carolina. The Company has heretofore purchased the former Goodnight Brothers Produce facility and property located in the Wilkes County Industrial Park at 1601 Industrial Drive, Wilkesboro, NC, by deed dated March 11, 2026, and recorded in Book 1437, page 025, Wilkes County Registry, the same being identified on the records of the Wilkes County Mapping Office as Parcel ID no. 2205659 (referred to hereinafter as the “Property”). As a result of Project Pressure, the Company plans to invest in new machinery and equipment and real property improvements with respect to the Property in an estimated amount of approximately $19,600,000 over the next five (5) years and to duly list the same for taxation in the Wilkes County Tax Assessor’s Office. Further as a result of Project Pressure, the Company would propose to create approximately ninety-two (92) new full-time jobs over the next five (5) years in connection with the above described project.
Pursuant to the foregoing, the County and the Company would propose to execute an Economic Investment Agreement (hereinafter “Agreement”) which would provide that, in return for the capital investment and job creation and retention to be undertaken by the Company as set forth above, the County would make annual appropriations to the Company for a period of up to six (6) years in accordance with the provisions of the Wilkes County Economic Development Investment Policy, upon conditions to be set forth in the Agreement.
FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing in this matter on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Room at the County Office Building in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, at which time any person may be heard regarding the above-described economic development activity and the Agreement to be considered by the Board of Commissioners. The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Commissioners will immediately follow the public hearing.
