🚨 How did a 0% tax levy turn into a $2.8 million “crisis”?

We broke it all down in Part 1 of our latest AIM investigation — from the original 2% plan, to the sudden 0% shift, to the missing revised budget, the shutdown memo, and the Thanksgiving-week messaging that confused everyone.

While county leadership is out there fear-mongering about a 0% tax levy, the real numbers tell a very different story — and taxpayers deserve to know the truth.

So AIM4WILL did what AIM4WILL does:
we dug in, broke it apart, and explained it in plain English (with a few jokes along the way 😅).

Both parties need to hear this.

Democrat leadership is warning that “prices will skyrocket” if Obamacare subsidies expire, but they had multiple chances to extend or make those subsidies permanent when they controlled everything. They didn’t. And now they’re claiming the sky will fall?

The truth:
Subsidies didn’t lower prices --- they hid them.
Insurance companies padded profits while families paid more every year.

Other countries tried similar systems and backed out when the costs blew up:
🇳🇱 Netherlands reversed course after premiums spiked.
🇨🇭 Switzerland loosened regulations after prices surged.
🇩🇪 Germany added more private options as mandates got too expensive.
🇸🇪 Sweden shifted toward private clinics after long waits and high costs.

But Republicans deserve criticism too. After a decade of “repeal and replace,” there was no replace. No unified plan. No clear alternative. In some cases, the strategy was to “let Obamacare collapse” ... a political tactic that never solved anything.

So here we are:
Democrats overselling subsidies.
Republicans failing to offer a real plan.
And the public stuck with rising costs either way.

That’s why AIM digs deeper, because when both parties fall short, somebody has to speak plainly about what’s really happening.

Took a little break, watched the chaos unfold… and wow, did this week deliver a wake-up call worth talking about.

Here’s the blunt truth:

Republicans showed up. Democrats showed up.
But the voters who decide tight races — the independent, working-class, anti-establishment voters — stayed home.

Not because they switched sides.
Not because they don’t care.
But because they’re tired of BOTH parties ignoring the issues that actually hit their wallets and neighborhoods.

And in places like Will County, those voters decide everything.

If we want different outcomes in 2026, we need leaders who:

✅ talk affordability, not theatrics
✅ fight local battles, not D.C. drama
✅ modernize turnout
✅ earn back the independents who no longer trust anyone

This week wasn’t a defeat ... it was a lesson.
A roadmap.
A reminder of why AIM exists in the first place.

To cut through the noise.
To tell the truth.
To focus on what actually affects the people who live here.

AIM is back.
Let’s get to work.
