Huron County Ohio Democratic Party

Huron County Ohio Democratic Party We believe all people are created equal, that this is America’s fundamental ideal.

The Democratic Party can look back on a proud history—a history not just of a political organization but of a national vision. It is a vision based on the strength and power of millions of economically empowered, socially diverse and politically active Americans. Over two hundred years ago, our Party's founders decided that wealth and social status were not an entitlement to rule. They believed th

at wisdom and compassion could be found within every individual and a stable government must be built upon a broad popular base. The late Ron Brown—former Chairman of the Democratic Party—put it best when he wrote, "The common thread of Democratic history, from Thomas Jefferson to Bill Clinton, has been an abiding faith in the judgment of hardworking American families, and a commitment to helping the excluded, the disenfranchised and the poor strengthen our nation by earning themselves a piece of the American Dream. We remember that this great land was sculpted by immigrants and slaves, their children and grandchildren." For more than 200 years, the Democratic Party has represented the interests of working families, fighting for equal opportunities and justice for all Americans. Today, Democrats continue that fight with a firm commitment to the values that we all share as Americans: a secure nation that leads in the world, strong economic growth and new jobs, affordable health care for all Americans, and a better education for our children.

Restore American democracy. We need clear-eyed, straight-talking, strong representation in DC. Vote Brian Shaver for Congress

Escalating a trade war with Canada is irresponsible, especially with our closest trade partner. To use more unconstitutional tariffs is ridiculous. To threaten to rename a lake is pathetic.

Congress — when are you going to do your jobs and stop this foolishness?

Happy 19th amendment anniversary. 106 years ago white women got the right to vote. It would be 1965 before women of color got the same right.
ALL women need to register and vote this November.

In 1973, Congresswoman Bella Abzug, one of just 16 women serving in the U.S. House of Representatives at the time, championed legislation designating August 26 as Women’s Equality Day, commemorating the certification of the 19th Amendment and women’s constitutional right to vote.

Women's Equality Day not only celebrates that certification, but is also a reminder that the pursuit of equality did not end with the 19th Amendment. Women’s Equality Day calls us to reflect on the progress that has been made and the work that remains to achieve full equality, including the ongoing effort to secure recognition of the Equal Rights Amendment.

By the way, as you can see, we have come a long way baby. 😉
