Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy (KNC)

Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy (KNC) Dedicated to the Children of Tomorrow-Kishwauketoe is a 231 acre Nature Preserve located on the shores of Geneva Lake in downtown Williams Bay, WI

In 1989, motivated by citizen outcry against a proposed golf course, townhouse, condominium, and convention center complex, the Williams Bay Board of Trustees purchased the 231-acre site for preservation and established the Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy. It realized that this area is the largest intact wetland remaining in the watershed of Geneva Lake and needed to be protected, preserved, and e

nhanced. All of our restoration work at KNC is accomplished by Volunteers, a small paid staff and supported 100% by donations. Please consider assisting us in anyway you can.

Thank you to botanist, Josh Skolnick and Katie from Wisconsin Wetlands Associate for a wonderfully informative hike this morning.

We were joined by board members, volunteers and even some Kishwauketoe first timers on this fun hike through Kishwauketoe’s wetlands.

The Kish Kids made some amazing discoveries on our hike today. They found a rainbow on a tree, a furry caterpillar defying gravity, countless leaf miners and many other unique insects.

See you Wednesday, with special guest, Emily Stone.

One of the things that makes Kish Kids special is the way it can mold itself to the needs and interests of the kids who attend.

A class about measuring can become a boat-building class when the kiddos are itching to play in the creek. Creepy Crawlers can quickly turn into crazy climbers and berry bombs when that’s where their curiosity takes us.

With summer wrapping up and only two more weeks of Kish Kids left, I’m so excited to see where these classes take us!

This week, Kish Kids explored both the north and south ends of the conservancy! Creative wheels turned as we experimented with what makes a boat move faster, and eyes stayed peeled during our tree scavenger hunt.

See you next week!
