You asked… we answered, with a little bit more...💵!

SRO Borgen has been hard at work continuing scooter and bike safety education across Williams Bay! 🚲🛴 Following his presentation this past fall, Officer Borgen is making sure our students head into summer with all the right safety tips fresh in mind.

But wait… there’s MORE! 🎉

This week, officers will be out and about with a limited number of gift cards to hand out to riders showing off safe habits. That’s right — FREE gift cards! 🎁

Culver’s, Green Grocer, Frosty Moose, Dip in the Bay… and even a $50 Walmart gift cards all brought to you by Police Lights Of Christmas and generous donations.

Will you be one of the lucky winners? It’s easy:
✅ Wear your helmet
✅ Ride safely
✅ Stay alert
We’ll be watching! 👀

E-SCOOTER CRASH INVESTIGATION

Williams Bay Police Department along with Williams Bay-Fontana EMS responded to a single-vehicle crash of an electric powered scooter (e-scooter) in Lakewood Trails Subdivision on Sunday, May 17, 2026. The crash occurred around noon. The e-scooter was the ONLY vehicle involved.

The 14-year-old scooter operator sustained serious injuries and was transported by Flight For Life to an area hospital.

Williams Bay Police Department is actively investigating the crash. Witnesses are cooperating and have been extremely helpful.

E-scooters and e-bikes continue to grow in popularity. With the increased availability of electric-powered transportation, there is a growing concern for operator safety. This is a tragic reminder to the critical need for safe riding habits.

Parents, families, friends and classmates, now is the time to come together, grieve the seriousness of these injuries and challenge one another to embrace safe scooter bike habits.

The investigation remains open and ongoing. Because the injured person is a juvenile, no identifying information is being released. Witnesses with information are encouraged to contact the Williams Bay Police Department at 262.245.2710.

Congratulations to Officer Carlton and the entire Recruit Class 26-96 on your academy graduation — you’ve crossed the finish line!

Joined by her fellow recruits, today marks the successful completion of an 18-week, 720-hour law enforcement academy.

Next week, Officer Carlton will begin field training where she’ll take her academy skills to the streets. The FTO program will enhance her knowledge in policing, tailored to serving in Williams Bay.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Carlton and the rest of her academy class on their accomplishment!

As Police Week continues, we take time to remember those who gave everything in service to others.

Police Week is a time to honor the fallen, reflect, and give thanks. An officers sacrifice is something we will never take for granted. Just this passed year, The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial recognizes 111 fallen officers and even more who came under attack or injured on duty.

As we remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, we recognize a reality that exists in every community. The risks are real, and the willingness to serve and protect remains constant.

Join us this week as we pause to reflect upon those who've lost their lives and take time to hear stories of the hard work officers are doing locally to keep each other and the community safe.

How would you react in a critical incident?

That’s the question our School Resource Officer posed to students during a recent self-defense lesson.

Drawing on his experience as a Defensive Tactics and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu instructor, he challenged students to think beyond just physical techniques.

Today’s participants practiced discipline and strengthened their situational awareness. Because staying safe often starts long before a situation ever becomes physical.

⚠️ Fraud Alert ⚠️

The police department is investigating fraud complaints for suspects impersonating village employees.

Suspects are posing as village employees and contacting residents for payment for permits that they have applied for. The suspects are creating legitimate-looking emails using village logos and signatures claiming that they are reaching out to collect payment. The suspects are potentially getting information from publicly available outlets, NOT from a breach of information.

🚫 Please be aware:
• Village staff will never request payment through unusual methods like gift cards or payment apps.
• Emails are typically sent during normal business hours.
• The Village of Williams Bay does not bank with out-of-state or international financial institutions.
• Legitimate emails from Village originate from a “.gov” email domain.

✅ What you can do:
• Verify methods of communication, check email addresses closely.
• Verify the amount you should be paying for permits. If it is more than what you were expecting, contact Village Hall.
• If you suspect suspicious activity, contact the Williams Bay Police Department.

You may verify permit information and payment options directly with Village Hall by calling 262-245-2700 or visiting in person at 121 N Walworth Ave. Williams Bay, WI 53191
