Smoke Detector Event Success!
Last Saturday, volunteers from the The Arizona Burn Foundation , American Red Cross, Williams Fire Department, Native Air 22 Williams, and our amazing community came together for our first-ever Smoke Detector Walk in Williams. And what an impact it made!

Saturday’s accomplishments:

• 88 smoke alarms installed
• 27 homes are now safer
• 71 residents received home fire safety education
• 10 dedicated volunteers donated their time

This was our very first event of this kind in Williams, and it was a huge success. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed up, knocked on doors, climbed ladders, shared information, and helped us make our community safer. Your partnership and enthusiasm mean so much.

A huge thank-you to the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for generously allowing us to use their facility during the event. Your support helped make the day run smoothly and made a big difference.

This is just the beginning. Our goal is simple and important: a working smoke detector in every home in Williams.

If you live in Williams and do not have a working smoke detector, we’re here to help:
• Call the Williams Fire Department at 928 635 4451 ext. 227
• Or stop by the Williams Public Library to sign up for a free installation

Let’s keep this momentum going and continue working together to protect our community—one home at a time.

Williams Fire Department spent the morning at Donuts with Grownups at Williams Elementary/Middle School… and we’re still not sure how we qualified as “grownups.” 🍩😄

Between the donuts, the laughs, and hanging out with some awesome kids, we had an absolute blast. The official name tags said “Grownup”… but if you flipped them over, they told the real story: “LOL, not really.”

We were in good company too—Williams Police Department - AZ, Life Line Ambulance, and Native Air 22 Williams all showed up to prove that none of us have it completely figured out either.

Thanks to the school for having us out. Events like this are a great reminder of why we love serving this community

Williams Fire Department responded this morning to a fire at the Loves Truck Stop in Williams. The first arriving unit reported smoke coming from the roof of the Carl’s Jr. restaurant.

Mutual aid was requested from High Country Fire, Ponderosa Fire Department, and Camp Navajo Fire. Crews quickly located the fire in the hood ventilation system of the Carl’s Jr. and contained it to that area. No fire extended into any other part of the building.

We also received support on scene from Williams Police Department - AZ, Coconino County Sheriff's Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety and Copperstate Ambulance.

No injuries were reported.

The Loves Truck Stop has reopened.

🔥🌲 Calling Coconino County residents! 🌲🔥

📣 We need your valuable input! 📣

The 2026 Coconino County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) draft is nearing completion, and we're excited to announce the public review period, which will start on March 30 and end on April 17, 2026.

The focus of this CWPP is on rural fire districts and tribal communities, and we are seeking input from residents living in or near the following communities: Blue Ridge, Clints Well, Forest Lakes, Kaibab Estates West, Red Lake, Sherwood Forest Estates, Tusayan, Valle, Williams, and the Hualapai Tribe. We want YOUR help to make this plan a success for communities across Coconino County!

Your feedback is crucial in developing a plan that enhances Coconino County’s resilience and reduces risk to our communities from severe and damaging wildfires. Please review the CWPP and share your thoughts on this collaborative effort.
The draft CWPP is available for review and comment starting on March 30, 2026.

To access the plan and participate in the review process, interested parties can visit

https://cwpp-coconinocounty.hub.arcgis.com.

Let's work together to reduce this risk to our communities!
