🚔 Career Day at Williams Upper Elementary School was a success!

Last week, Williams Area CHP Officer Figueroa had a great time talking with students about road safety, what we do every day, and how we work to keep the roads in Colusa County and California safe. The highlight? Letting the kids and staff experience our impaired driving goggles - a powerful (and eye-opening) way to show the dangers of driving under the influence.

Thank you to Williams Upper Elementary School for welcoming us for Career Day. 👮

🌧️ Rainy weather = Wet roadways.

We are experiencing intermittent rainstorms throughout the area. Reduced traction and longer stopping distances are common in wet conditions. Slow down, increase your following distances, and turn on your headlights.

Drive safely!

🚨 🚨 Pursuit Incident🚨 🚨

It was a busy day for Williams Area CHP units this afternoon. After receiving reports of a vehicle involved in several hit and run traffic crashes on Hwy 20, West of I-5. Units responded to the area, located the suspect vehicle and a pursuit ensued. Due to safety reasons, the pursuit was cancelled and air units were requested. Ultimately, the suspect was located again and crashed into irrigation equipment as he attempted to flee through an Orchard. Luckily, no one was injured as a result of this reckless behavior and the suspect was arrested for more than a few serious charges. 🚓

The William CHP Office is proud to partner with the Colusa County Friday Night Live program and spread awareness of the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

We were able to visit three local high schools and bring awareness to the dangers of drinking and driving. Over 330 high school age students pledged not to drive while under the influence.

A seat belt can be the difference between walking away from a crash and never making it home.

From May 18–31, the California Highway Patrol will participate in the national Click It or Ticket campaign with increased seat belt enforcement. Officers will be stopping drivers and passengers who are not properly buckled up.

Too many lives are lost each year because someone chose not to wear a seat belt. In a crash, being ejected from a vehicle is often deadly, and airbags alone are not enough to protect you.

Buckle up correctly every trip:
✔️ Shoulder belt across your chest
✔️ Lap belt low across your hips
❌ Never behind your back or under your arm

🚨K-9 Drug Seizure🚨

On May 15, 2026, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer conducted an enforcement stop on a passenger vehicle northbound on Interstate 5 in the CHP Williams Area. Upon contacting the solo occupant of the vehicle, the officer observed multiple signs of criminal activity and requested a Canine Officer respond to the scene. The Canine Officer arrived on scene and utilized his canine partner, Robbie, to conduct an exterior free air sniff of the vehicle. Robbie alerted to the presence of the odor of narcotics emitting from within the vehicle. A search was conducted, and Officers located 30 kilos of suspected co***ne.

Our Canine Officers are working non-stop to keep us safe by removing these dangerous drugs from the highways and communities we protect. 🐾

Great job to Robbie and all Officers involved!
