On June 18, 2026, Williams Area CHP personnel responded to a solo vehicle traffic crash on northbound I-5, north of Delevan Road. Due to the injuries sustained by the driver, northbound I-5 was briefly shutdown to allow an air ambulance to safely land and transport the involved party to the hospital.

This serves as another sobering reminder of how quickly things can change on the road. Please do your part to keep yourself and others safe:

- Slow down and adjust to road and weather conditions
- Put your phone down
- Drive sober
- Maintain a safe following distance

Let's all commit to safer driving habits every time we get behind the wheel. Arrive alive!

If you were traveling on SR-20, west of Williams, on Friday (6/5/26) afternoon your travels may have been hampered by a large law enforcement presence east of Walnut Drive as you begin to enter/leave the Costal Range. Here is some information regarding what occurred:

Williams Area CHP personnel were notified of a wanted vehicle and murder suspect from Southern California traveling eastbound on SR-20. Officers located the suspect vehicle and performed a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle with the assistance of the Colusa County Sheriff's Department. Both occupants of the vehicle were detained without incident, and the wanted suspect was ultimately booked into the Colusa County Jail.

We would like to thank the Colusa County Sheriff's Department for their assistance in bringing this incident to a safe conclusion.

Today, we honor the courage and sacrifice of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy 82 years ago on June 6, 1944.

Their bravery on D-Day turned the tide of World War II and paved the way for the liberation of Europe.

Let us never forget the heroes of the Greatest Generation and the ultimate price paid for the freedoms we enjoy today.

๐Ÿš” Career Day at Williams Upper Elementary School was a success!

Last week, Williams Area CHP Officer Figueroa had a great time talking with students about road safety, what we do every day, and how we work to keep the roads in Colusa County and California safe. The highlight? Letting the kids and staff experience our impaired driving goggles - a powerful (and eye-opening) way to show the dangers of driving under the influence.

Thank you to Williams Upper Elementary School for welcoming us for Career Day. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ
