🚨 Joint Enforcement Operation 🚨

Earlier today, Friday, August 21, 2026, officers from CHP Williams and CHP Yuba-Sutter conducted enhanced enforcement on Highway 20 between Yuba City and Williams. The operation focused on speeding, unsafe passing, and crossing over the double yellow lines along a rural stretch of roadway known for aggressive and unsafe driving.

During the operation, Williams Area officers made 33 enforcement contacts and issued 20 citations for speed. Two drivers were issued citations for traveling 97 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.

This is a reminder that speed remains one of the leading causes of traffic crashes. Slow down, avoid distractions, and drive sober.

Summer is winding down and kids are returning to schools throughout Colusa County 🏫

As school buses return to our roadways, here's a quick reminder for drivers:

When a school bus is stopped with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, you must come to a complete stop - from both directions on a two-lane road. This keeps children safe as they board and exit the bus.

Let's do our part to protect our kids! Slow down, stay alert, and stop for the bus.

🚨Citizen Reporting Matters 🚨

Earlier today, August 10, 2026, Williams Area CHP officers began receiving reports of the possible intoxicated driver traveling eastbound on SR-20 from King Rd. Officers were able to get into position and stop on the vehicle as it entered the City of Williams. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for DUI and transported to the Colusa County Jail. 🚓

We sincerely thank the concerned motorists who reported this driver and provided excellent information that helped our units locate and stop the vehicle. Because of their quick action, this driver was removed from the roadway before anyone was hurt.

If you drink, don't drive! Its not worth the risk to yourself, your passengers, or other motorists on the road.

🚨Drug Seizure 🚨

It was another busy day for Williams Area CHP officers.

Earlier today, one of our officers made a stop on a Toyota SUV for a speed violation on Highway 20, west of Walnut Drive. While speaking with the driver, the officer observed numerous signs of criminal activity - along with nearly 500 pounds of ma*****na filling the rear passenger area of the vehicle.

The driver did not have the required documents to legally transport his cargo and was arrested. He was booked into the Colusa County Jail for multiple drug possession and transportation charges.

The CHP remains committed to removing illegal and dangerous drugs from California roadways to keep our communities safe.
