Ms Sach's 4th grade class is hard at work in reading and Virginia studies! They created salt dough maps while learning about the different geographic regions of Virginia and spent some time birding in JRE's "backyard" (playground) as they learned about resources in their Benchmark reading unit!

We’re celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at James River Elementary! One of our amazing LIEP teachers, Ms Rodriguez, also serves as our Multicultural Education Advocate. She worked with some of our 2nd and 3rd graders to create a set of wings, inspired by the Frida Kahlo quote “Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly?” Students made individual tesselation pieces to create the wings, while some pieces also highlight contributions from Hispanic artists, writers, and more! Everyone is a learner at JRE!
